A friend of mine has found some old watches belonging to her late father while sorting out the house. Both of us know nothing what so ever about watches so were wondering if anyone here could tell us if any of these are worth anything at all. None of them are boxed or anything like that and have a few small scratches on etc. I'm not expecting them to be worth much, but it's always good to check these things!

Cheers!

Knowing almost nothing about watches, I'd hazard that 2, 3 and 4 are most likely to be of any value. 2 is an Omega, so most likely to be valuable, if it's a decent one. 3 is a Sekonda, so that's at least fairly solid in it's price bracket. 4 isn't a name I've heard of, but it's automatic and looks OK.

Edit - 4 is from a fairly old Swiss watchmaker, so that should count for something.

2 4 and 5 are worth a decent amount of money. Not sure how much. The others are worth money too, just not that much. Check out a watch forum like watchuseek or tz-uk.

Thanks for the info.

Where are all the watch men when you need them :p

As above, the Omega is probably worth £250 - £300, there was one for sale on a popular auction site recently for £400 but it didn't sell IIRC.

The Doxa is likely to be worth a few quid too, could be more than the Omega if you're lucky - unfortunately I'm not a Doxa expert.

Try asking on http://www.tz-uk.com/forum/index.php, there are some hugely knowledgeable people on there.

Interesting, cheers.

I tried to sign up there after panthro suggested it, but registration is disabled.
