Ok, so you have a few arguments with the gf, of which you are in the wrong about.

Get home and find a message from said gf and it says

"I want to be friends now

"

Does no one else read this as her ending it? Obviously I've jumped to conclusions as she didn't have a clue what I was blabbering on about when trying to rectify the imaginary ending of said relationship.

Turns out she didn't want to be angry at me or argue and wanted us to be friends again. :confused:

Are they all as confusing as this?

I think you jumped to the natural conclusion that 90% of men would jump to who were in a relationship.
But from outside that relationship..... it doesn't sound like a breakup really.

Well anyway, I phoned her after it and only until about 5 minutes into conversation she realised I thought she was ending it. I guess I know how it will feel if it ever did end now?

I'd personally say that she wants to make-up as opposed to split-up.

ever see knocked up? I watched for the first time earlier (under the advisement of many people might i add) and the ONLY good thing it did was demonstrate instantly why pretty much all women (even if they are pretty fit) are stupid and should come with ear plugs, or a mute button...
