Hey guys,

I'm off to Rome on Saturday (:D) and my flight is at 16:55 so what time should i aim to be at the airport?

We do not have allocated seats as they get allocated when we get there so i imagine i should get there early if i want good seats.

Thanks for the help :)

Cas.

Which airport and which airline makes a big difference :o

Cheap airline = leave as much time as possible

I'm flying from Gatwick Airport and with EasJet.

EasyJet say "We recommend you check in at least two hours before the scheduled departure time."

Does this mean that the check-in desk will be open for more then 2 hours before the flight?

I dunno, what do you think it means?

No, i have flown many times before but this is the first time i have gone on holiday alone (well with my GF)

I think i'll get there for 1/1.30 as that leaves plenty of time to do other things like eat, rest and shop!

Is it with EasyJet? If so, check-in usually closes 40 mins before departure and opens two hours before that.

Unless of course your flight is delayed - by 5 hours (like ours was last time we got a flight & had arrived 3 hours before)

So in total we we were sitting in the airport waiting for Easyjet to get their act together for 8 hours, wasted the first evening of a 2 day stay in Paris and ended up being tired the whole second day as we didn't get to our hotel until 11pm. We did manage to get a voucher for about £3 that bought us a packet of crisps at the airport prices though

I flew a few weeks ago home from London and arrived at the airport with 40 mins til my flight, I had only hand luggage and had done an online check in, and managed to get a drink before the flight and a window seat on it. If checking in and you don't mind where to sit give yourself an hour or so, if you want to be first on and get a decent seat then arrive with at least 2 and a quarter hours spare.
