Best hot hatch atm?

The 156BHP engine is the C20XE which is NA and not fitted to any Corsa as standard. The C20LET is jsut over 200BHP and was only fitted to the Calibra and Cavalier in the UK.

Either way that Corsa would not be factory standard or relevant to this thread.

Corsa C20LET owners are ****** - yes it's a broad generalisation but I don't care!

Your right there - which is why I didn't take too much interest... but they were beating a lot of fast cars... when they weren't suffering mechanical problems... I assumed they were standard engines on the corsa with a few mods.

I love how the Clio sports are always compared and pitted against cars in the class above :p

Where are the reviews of the Corsa VXR against a Focus, or a Fiesta ST against a Megane? :)

Good clip though, esp when you see the focus with all 4 wheels off the ground!

Renaultsport Clio 182... by far the best car I've ever owned (should never have sold it).

Go find yourself a copy of Evo magazine from '05, the one where they pit the Clio 182 Trophy against a BMW M5. It gives a brilliant review of all that is right with the 182/Trophy.

They can be picked up reasonably cheaply now too, so much fun for so little £££'s.

Being picky, it was an M6 I believe :)

Mazda 3 MPS. Looks like a joke, will leave a lot of other hot hatches in the dust. The ultimate in stealth.

Focus RS is the best all rounder

Megane R26R is probably the fastest round a track and most driver focused

Mazda 3 MPS is the car that looks least like a hot hatch and will surprise everybody.

That's not surprising given the M6 is more of a grand tourer than a sports car. Wouldn't something like a Z4M have been a fairer comparison?

I'm biased as I've got one, but the Clio 197/200's offer a lot of fun and point-to-point performance for the money. Not outright speed, but they're very chuckable and fun. I prefer my 197 over my previous 2.5T Focus ST, even though it's slower, worse built, has less equipment and less reliable. It's just a better hot hatch, imo.

I'd love to try an Abarth 500, they look like they could be grin inducing. :D

Focus RS obviously looks great, but it's too expensive, same with the LCR, GTI, Type R, S3 etc. Hot hatches should be light, chuckable, practical-ish, bring a huge smile to your face, and most importantly, be cheap.

Type R's are just insurance pitholes though aren't they? Fact is that VTEC requires you to be driving like a tool to get any sort of performance and insurance companies are getting wise to it!

Why does no one ever mention cars like the DC5? That's still a hatchback isn't it? A damn good one at that! Pick them up for about £15k now cant you?
