Buying a 2nd hand Xbox 360 question.

I'm considering buying a 2nd hand Xbox 360 console. It's out of warranty but it has 3 years RROD warranty. It's an Xbox 360 'Go Pro' and it's advertised as HDMI.

I plan to play the 360 on my monitor but my monitor is DVI/VGA not HDMI.

Do these 'HDMI' Xboxs have HDMI ports only for video input?

Thanks

No, you'll have an HDMI port as well as the regular A/V port.

I'd be cautious when buying a second hand 360 though, you could end up with a banned one or one that will RRoD really quick.

What's a banned Xbox 360? Oh and RRoD wouldn't really matter I guess because it has MS warranty.

The microsoft seal is intact btw.

Microsoft can ban a users xbox so it cant go on live. once banned its the console that cant get back online regardless of the user.

Only the newest chipsets have any major improvement in terms of reliability, or so it seems.
It might as well be a launch board as far as reliablity goes.

Hmm I don't really understand? Sorry lol. He said he's never had any problems with it and everything is stable.

I don't know much about xbox 360 chipsets, I just don't want to buy one with a dodgy chipset.

I'm pretty sure a Falcon uses the newer 65nm CPU, but the older graphics chipset, unlike the Jasper which uses both new components but I'm not 100% somebody will surely clear that up. :)

Going to pick it up tomorrow. Payed £130, but it comes with a 120GB HDD, Wireless Pad, Fully boxed, perfect condition and a few games.

Ah, I don't know if to leave the purchase now.. Don't really want to be spending cash on something that might not last long. :/

In all honesty buying a 2nd hand xbox is like running through a mine field.. There's a chance you might make it through.. But the chances are it's gonna get you !

Buy the brand new more reliable 360, at least you've got three yrs warranty.. But then again if you are going to do that, for the same price you can get a PS3, which also has a Bluray player, much more quality feel hardware wise and at least the chances are reliability wise it's a lot more likely to stand the test of time.

Pound for pound you'll get a lot more with a Sony.

Either ive got lucky or .. but my 360's havnt been a walking timebomb so to speak, a mates gone through 3 PS3 breakages to my 2 360 breakages :P

First 360 (launch) Broke after like 2 and a half years, second one after 2 days (package was open inside ... bet the store had been playing it ;x)

Took my mate 5 months to get his first PS3 swapped also, highstreet store starting with a G Was told not to honour any warrenty by Sony as the 'infamous Disk read errors' were caused by user mis-usage and not a hardware or production fault.

Took a minor claim to sort it out.
