Following success from the aqaurium I decided to take a few snaps of the kissing gourami and guppy. There are a lot more in there but I'll get to them another day.

Gulp Glup woof woof!

I find the high-key (first) and colourful (last) dog shots great, but the fish ones do nothing for me. Maybe I'm not a fish person...

Slightly missed focus on the last one, shame. Narrow DOF I realise, but blurry nose draws unwanted attention. Great fur texture though :)

Do you have any tips for the photo taking of the fish?

Ive recently completed my tank now and want to get some good pics of the fish now they are all settled and used to me!

I'd have to agree here although I suppose fish don't have the same range, if any for facial expressions/ posing. One photo of a fish is very much the same as another if that explains it better, at least to me anyway. I think they might work better a little closer or even just closer cropped in a semi-macro style particularly for these relatively small fish.

The doggie shots are better composed, especially first and last. The fish shots are a bit too far from the subject and this subject too central in the frame and thus they dont have the same interest or impact.
