BBC: Market crisis 'will happen again'

What they are saying is that after all the economic stimulus has ended, the country will fall back into a recession.

You need to understand that all that is happening now, is the government is temporarily improving the economic conditions, so everything is fine until the elections are held. Its pretty clear, for anyone with a brain.

It will get nasty after the election. None of us have really experienced economic advertsity, but its going to be envitable.

^ This.

I read an article in The Times recently that stated the next crisis would come from unsecured debt. The liability is much smaller as a percentage than that for secured debt but is significant in itself.

I personally think the celebrating of rising house prices is perverse and bizarre but it seems to be ingrained into the UK psyche.

I know. I agree 100%

"Yay! Houses are more expensive, let's party!"

It's an utterly retarded point of view and just illustrates how mongingly stupid the majority of the population are.

Personally I thought, as reported, that Greenspan stated financial crisis such as what we have now, rather than the usual recessions we face. What I do find odd is Greenspan now saying he predicted this mess, when a few months ago he was accepting that markets aren't as perfect as he advocated and he had made a mistakes.

Because the most respected thing in the UK is money and the net worth of a person, especially in the south.

I wouldn't give Greenspan the time of day - he is vastly overrated as an expert on these matters in my opinion. I think events have proven that he isn't so wise and deserving of such adoration.

How do you know how old we all are and what we have experienced?

Right. At least I have the consolation of being able to spell and punctuate.

I assumed, based on the fact this is an overclocking forum, so most people on here are geeky computer enthusiasts, and would usually fall between the ages of 13-25. The last recession occured in 19 years ago and You cant fully appriciate the affects of one until you reach you late teens. So based on the above, its fair to assume most people on this forum aren't 35+, therefore, most of us havn't experienced a real recession.

Well done pointing out the spelling mistake. I bet you feel like a big man now.

I'm 36 ;)

Your posts are littered with schoolboy errors mate. Sort yourself out TBH.

(if you are actually 12 years old then I take that back.)

I don't think you are the best person to be taking about someone else life, are we mister DUI

I see what you did there...

...you made some elementary English errors :(

Instead of trying to take potshots at me, how about looking for somewhere to live? ;)

I personally can see another crash, living costs and job losses started the recession and we are still seeing mass job loses and living costs at the same level. Corporate business's are adjusting to the new world of business but the general public isn't.

Why are you so interest in my life, I am over 16 you know

Why don't you act like it then?

might as well have said every 365 (ish) days we grow a year older.

it will happen again just as it's happened like clockwork every 30-40 years since we began trading shiny rocks and animal bones

FFS read the article. And economic cycles last about 20 years.

The BBC like all new outlets these days it would appear needs to have an endless line of sensationalist doom and gloom head lines, now it appears that the current recession is easing and that swine flu isn't going to kill us all they need something else to grab attention so they make common sense look like a news story.

To be fair, much of the sensationalism is provided by the reader. For instance I was vastly underwhelmed and not remotely worried for an instant when I read of more people dying from Swine Flu, where as other people read it panicked and assumed they would die. Same headline, different reactions from different people. Interpretation is key here, while I do agree they do try their best to make whatever they are saying sound more dramatic than it is, well, I'm not sure thats new, newspapers always competed with other papers trying to be more dramatic and attention grabbing.

Gosh are you STILL obsessed with that? Don't worry, he has his entire life to get a flat and a 15 year old Cavalier.

Gosh! Have you STILL not moved out either? Are you STILL looking down your nose at people who live in flats and drive older cars than you?

My favourites are when BBC quote "scientists" and then don't state their sources, or ensure it is so vague you have no way of verifying it. So unprofessional, sensationalist and decidedly less than candid frankly.

I suppose if there is nothing better to do, you might as well quote someone on their statistically insignificant study about how tomatoes are going to give you cancer, or some unfinished and unverified MSc students ideas (this actually happened incidentally).
