hi all, first post on o/c forums. I currently own an eos500n 35mm and it has
been a great camera.I plan on keepin it but think its time to venture into DSLR territory.First question is will my current lens cannon ef 80-200 52mm af fit the cannon dslrs. Second, is it a good time to buy due to new models comin out soon. Third, i plan on useing the camera for motox, landscapes & general family pics which would be best option a 450d or 500d cheers

you can use the lenses you have, no problem there.

as for new camera, there is always one round the corner, but the next corner is weeks away so i'd wait until mid september first before buying. Canon is due to announce a few new products in september.

Canon!

First of all, what's your budget? Seeing as though you intend on shooting Moto X i would definitely recommend an xxD body over an xxxD body for the improved autofocus and faster framerate 5fps+ vs 3fps. I'd take a second hand 30D all day long over a new 450d or 500D.

cheers chaps budget around £550, was also considerin 40d hopein the price may come down. Thanks 4 the advise about the auto focus & speed though
will keep postin so i can eventualy use the mm

If you want to shoot motor sport with it , I'd see if you can borrow a body to see if you think it's up to scratch. Mine (a 40D) barely cuts it, as too many images are out of focus when it's on a high speed burst and attempting to track fast moving objects. Mind you, it will be better than the 500n.

got a few first pics chaps, just need to know how to attach em?

you need to upload them to a host.. there are some free ones like imageshack

then you need to put this "
" without the quotation marks in your post
