What do your tyres cost?

I'm not sure, it may have been CAR magazine, like I said it was a few years ago, all I can remember was the tyre comparison was in sunnier climes and it was a recognisable motoring mag, online, the PS2s did very well and the only reason that stuck with me was because I was running them at the time.

The main criticism behind the PS2's in UK tests is the pretty average wet weather ability, so yea I can see why a sunny country might favour them.

Unfortunatley UK weather is crap.

Obviously Evo and Autocar found them lacking but Tirerack and Car and Driver didn't in the wet, at least not to the point where there is a noticeable disparity between the top brands. Either way, reading these tests again, they seem a tad overpriced which I believe was the original point.

You were robbed, had these on the ST from the factory and nowhere near as good as Vred Sessantas at half the price.

Edit those are run flats though so you are limited :). But why not carry a can of tyre foam?

How was I robbed? I could have put a cheaper tyre on but not in a runflat. the cheapest branded runflat in my size is a crappy Pirelli at £170 odd and the Nct5s that came off the car are £190 tyre only, these seem considerably better than they were and I saved 33% off the list price. As I said earlier I didn't consider non-runflats this time as tyre weld doesn't help with a blow out and I have no spare wheel. With a nipper due in a few weeks safety overtook ride comfort. Also tyres can be dependant on what car they are going on these always perform well in tyre tests and although the Sessantas beat them in the evo test I have a hard time believing the are no where near as good unless it's the Focus ST that is fussy with CS3s.

I made it almost 10 years without getting a pucture then when I finally did the damage that was done to the tyre (gaping hole with the internal wires almost poking through) would have meant that tyre foam would have done sweet FA.

Based on that I'd be very cautious about owning a car without a spare or run flats.

Oh and my ones are £87 a corner fitted.

Falkens fitted. So far they look good and feel fine, just went for a burn round the block to start scrubbing them in and all feels decent so far. Need to try them in the wet really.

F1s for the vrs are about £60 a corner and I pay £10 at my indie per tyre, not bad really.

Although saying that the last set only lasted 6k :(

Quite a rare occurance would you not say? I do not have the option of a spare with the ST so fingers crossed.

Missed this thread somehow, but I put a set of ZE912's on my wifes Octavia and no complaints so far. She doesn't exactly explore the performance envelope but I've driven it a few times since they were fitted and they are leagues ahead of the mix of P6000s and Champiros that were on it before (though no surprise there I guess!). I reckon they are excellent VFM for the less sporty rim sizes were choice is pretty limited.

P6000 on all 4 corners.

They might have cost me nothing, but my worn down previous tyres were like slicks in comparison :(
