Fraudulent Claim Against Us

The funniest thing about this incident is the highlighting of the fact that these scammers were Asian. Unfortunately scammers come in all flavours, black, white, yellow, clearly asian and everything in between.

As Matt82 said, unfortunately these ***wipes are going to get away with it, withlittle that you can do about it. In reality of course they should all be shot, regardless of their colour!

I'm asian LukeTW and yes offence taken.

haha people cant help but highlight the colour of whoever did what if they were non-white. ever hear someone say "this white woman was taking ages at the traffic lights..."

They arent supposed to contact you. they are supposed to go through your insurance. Tell your insurance you think its fraud they are cracking down on this now. They will also know if hes made other similar claims.

did you get the police to attend the scene ?

Statistically, this sort of scam is much more likely to be perpetuated by asians than by other groups, as a look at the people convicted for them in the past shows.

surely if its fraudulent with 2 separate independent witnesses that this guy has done the same thing before then the insurance companies wont pay out and he will get done for dangerous driving??

After reading that, asians do seem to be more than statistically likely to fraudulently make a claim.

I'd actually say fraudulent claims are more likely to be made by asians, rather than asians are more likely to make fraudulent claims, because generally it's small groups doing the same scan over and over.

I heard about this kind of scam on 5live whilst driving home the other day.

The scammers in question were asian and had apparantly had the same crash 20 times at the same round-about (identical to what OP dscribed). It was only because office workers kept seeing the same driver involved they got suspicious and came forward as witnesses. I think the fraudsters ended up getting some hard time and a hefty fine.

I think witnesses are key in this type of case. Good luck getting this resolved and let us know how you get on :)

Whilst I agree with your point in principle, in this case it's actually relevant to the story as the mechanic used this information to identify that it might be the same driver involved. It's just a distinguishing factor in the person's appearance since the majority of the people in the UK are caucasian.

Do a find&replace on the story replacing "Asian" with "ginger" and the story works just as well, however since this is supposed to be a factual account you can't actually do that.

Zzzzzz turning this into a racism thing is going a bit OTT, fact is the guy was Asian and didn't speak a great deal of English, meaning he obviously wasn't born here which makes the whole scam even more infuriating, so don't read into it too much, it's just the world we live in.

Nothing enrages me more than people who talk in a different language in a situation like this, I'd have gone mad.

this sort of thing is on the rise, and its costing insurance companies millions

im sure your insurnace company will be delighted to hear you've got proof he's a scammer.

I wouldnt worry, insurance companies are wise to this sort of thing now.

Some people are just scum.

Quite an interesting story though, almost inspiration for a short film.

anyway, i take it youre insured, so your insurer will take the hit? after that all youve got ot lose is some NCB, if its not protected. so its not the end of the world

these scammers were Asian

10ft? That's not much more than a car length

did you get the police to attend the scene ?

Hi Guys nothing to update you on as of yet, but to respond...

Yes we're insured unfortunately we don't have NC Protection :(

Yes the scammers were Asian, but clearly everyone associated in it is also Asian, the Solicitor, the doctors etc.

10ft would have been the distance as he pulled off and then braked, it probably wasn't even that to be honest and iirc my driving instructor said you should always try and leave at least a metre clear all around you car.

Yes the Police attended the scene

Thanks for the link Dolph i'll make a note :)

Yes but in the first incident according to our witnesses the guy who went in the back of him got out and started ****** and jeffing and the Asian guy just drove off (again cause he prolly knew he was getting nowhere).

Either way we've had a little time to reflect on it and we're still 100% convinced its part of a scam, how the hell can you possibly get whiplash and spinal muscle and ligament damage from a ~5mph impact? Christ don't let that guy drive any more than 10mph he might explode!

The easiest way to stop things like this happening is to remove the cash element from it. If someone is in a crash, and requires car repair, or medical help, then it can be up to the insurance company to pay for it, instead of sending the person a nice big cheque. The system is already setup in some places, e.g. when you get your windscreen replaced under insurance due to a crack, you don't pay the people, they just claim it straight from the insurer. This would stop people trying to scam money, since there's not much point in getting a free hospital visit.

no, the way to stop things like this is by using accident reports, where both parties have to agree on what happened. there would never be a scammer as they would never get any money from it.
the only 'scammers' would be those who run into the back of you and then steal your car.

I can't remember where, but I saw this on the BBC. They speed up at an T junction for example, with no traffic coming then slam on the breaks.

I think it was Traffic cops, can't be sure though.
