District 9 review...it's looking good... **SPOILERS**

Is that why you'd never heard of it until a week after release?;)

I live in another country now and don't get as much time as I used to stay up to date with all the latest releases, or even go to the cinema half as much. Doesn't change the fact I love Sci-Fi, and this type of film, to death.

Grav gun + pig = lols

Someone has played Half Life 2 methinks.

The alien weapons were epic. Great film.

I love how people pick apart films on this forum, as if they could do better.

I watched this last night. Unbelievably bad. This is the perfect example of a film relying too much on how it looks. The acting was dire and the story line looked like it might be going somewhere remotely interesting halfway through and then just fell flat on it's face. I'm actually amazed at the comments and reviews this film has received.

Some of the scenes were actually difficult to watch just because of the cringe factor. It's on a par with Starship Troopers, only at least that was very tongue in cheek whereas I get the feeling this wasn't made in the same way.

What on earth was with the dodgy irish accent swearing?

What's unbelievably bad is someone who claims to have read some of the comments on this post not understanding that the movie is set in South Africa and the irish accent was actually South African and it was a South African actor.

It's sometimes hard to watch something when it's not blatantly British or American, it doesn't make it bad especially if you don't understand the background of the country and what the movie is not so subtly trying to say

watched this on Friday, and I have to say i really liked it, though I dont think they should make a sequal if they are thinking about it

Very amusing :)

Looking forward to seeing this. Going to the Imax to watch it on the first showing there (18th). I haven't read this thread properly to save me from reading spoilers but from what i've heard off others it should be sweet!
