Hi everyone, just a quick question. My brother is emigrating and has given me his Sky HD box. Will Sky allow me to use the HD box instead of my Sky+ box?

Oh, and just one other thing, what is the ethernet port used for (if anything)?

Thanks

Not sure, it might just work as a sky+ box. If you want HD then you need to pay the £10pm for the HD channels.

Does he not need a new dish or anything? Or does the Sky+ Dish function exactly the same as HD? Does it just search for a different signal or something?

I use a normal sky dish for freesat HD channels, so I doubt a different dish is needed for HD...

You'll just have to phone sky to marry the card to the box for + functionality but that's it.

Once you've married your card to the box - You'll get Sky+ and should get the FTA HD channels without paying the extra £10 per month for HD. That's going to be BBC HD, C4 HD and ITV HD (requires manual setup).
