Hi, Im just wondering, would I be able to get a backlog of JSA because I finished college in June and havnt claimed until just now so would they take that into account ? Cheers

Why should they?

Unless you have a serious issue why you couldnt I think they will laugh in your face.

My claim was back dated a week or so before due to the system being shut over christmas and me not knowing I was to be let go on chris eve. So yea its possible but probably not in your case.

No. You were in college so you automatically void your entitlement for that period. That, and you can't backdate before you've even claimed - that's just silly talk.

You make initial contact for your claim, then you have a 3 day waiting period. then you enter the period you're being paid for. Sadly no BDC will countenance your reason as worth backdating a claim.

Not related to OP, so, sorry for going off topic. BUT, how can £86 a week pay for what you need. You know what I would like to know is it linked to your areas cost of living.

I was on JSA for 5 months, and never had any joy using the service. but fair enough the industry I work in is very incestuous, and that. But to be fair, the cost of living is a bit higher in Lonond that in say leeds? No? I may be completely wrong.

Mate, I've gone from being on JSA into the 40% tax bracket. I know the point.
I didn't mean to be antagonistic, and I'm not not exactly sober, but I can find anyone a job in a day. Scrubbing toilets, working in McDonalds, handing out leaflets,...... :(

And you broke the rule! Quit and go back to JSA so I can throw tomatoes at you :p

Yeah fair enough. But when I was unemployed, I was offered jobs that I could not afford to take. As soon as you take a job, obviously the social stop paying your rent and what not. So, you say it's easy enough taking any job, of course if you live at home then yes. But I tell you, being unemployed is no picnic mate!

I imagine so, but I have no frame of reference. No one in my family has ever been unemployed. Mother's had multiple jobs at one point to keep bank flow satisfactory.

Same here, My mum kept my family afloat with more than one job. How old are you? Have you never been unemployed?
