I will wait for nividia i have to wait to windows 7 is out anyway as i wants a copy in my hands that i can use then install it so my pc will be made and chosen when the time comes. plenty of time for itto happen. will have GF dx 11 and physX so a lot more i guess

Nope, running a 4890 950 / 1050MHz cracking card why get killed in the rush(paying top whack)just cause it use's DX11, when a few weeks later it will have come down in price. I'll think about it next year

Based upon past price drops, how much of a decrease should there be about three months after it (5870) has been released if it comes with a RRP of £300?

I've never bought a card at launch so I don't have much knowledge of these things.

Based on past trends prices will probably fluctuate by 10-20% up or down. I got my 4870 just after launch for £45 less than they cost 6 weeks later, demand and stock can push prices up, happened with the 8800GT too! Will depend on launch prices and demand.

Ati say there will be plenty of cards for sale on release day so that will having a bearing on price but even if some retailors do gouge the price there will be those that don't so pay your money to the right ones

I'm wondering whether to get 2 5870's or not or wait for x2, anybody think it's a waste to upgrade? it would be just to help with current games and for games next year possibly doom 4 if it comes out by then.. I get the feeling it's not going to run well on ATI cards though.

that and i checked a PSU calc site and for 2 4870's for comparison and it recommends over a 750w psu so maybe 2 is out of the question anyway.

ID would not write code to be better on nVidias rendering path unless it was technically superior/supported features ATi could not, I wouldn't worry about Doom 4 performance.

I'm thinking of picking up a couple of 5850s in Jan if nVidia haven't gotten anything out that trounces the 5850 in the bang for buck stakes.

I will (likely) have money ready for 2 cards, but will they be good enough for future DX11 titles framerate wise ?

I'm really not sure whether to wait and see what nvidia do

Based on the games that have been released always requiring better graphics cards than I have ever had, NO.

i see what he means, in the benchmarks on the Discussion of Radeon 5xxx series it shows that sli 295 is a bit slower than 5870s so he would kinda be saving money p2p wise

Surprising.. i thought Quad SLi didn't scale very well.
