might want to return the 6gb kit and look at this thread

I honestly don't think it's the RAM because the PC isn't even booting up. It turns on, powers up for a few seconds then just powers off with no beeps.

My friends PC is a beast compared to what I have (3x 4870 etc) and he runs it all on an OCZ 650 Watt PSU. So i'm guessing that I'm going to have to check the CPU to see if it's seated properly.

Nope. Boots up for about 3 seconds then shuts down. It tries starting up again after about another 3 seconds but the cycle keeps repeating itself.

...sounds like a ram issue to me then.

You have the ATX 24pin and 8pin power cables both connected to the mobo?

I do. However, when i take out the 8 pin power cable it doesn't shut down, but the graphics card doesn't get any power so I can't see what's happening on the screen.

Hi every one hope some one can help.
I have a blackops + intel e8400 just need memory.
what would be the best ddr3 1600mhz for this board
from overclocker stock list enny help would great.

The RAM you have purchased is designed for the X58 chipset not the X48 chipset.

This RAM is designed to run @ 1.65v MAX

My Patriot Viper DDR3 that I ran in my blackops needed 2.0v to run correctly

Hi hefner I have not got enny memory for my blackops yet
what would be the best ddr3 from overclockers stock list

Any of these:

Theoretically, triple channel ram with 2 sticks should still work, but the triple channel ram runs at lower voltages (1.5-1.65v) than the dual channel ram (1.8-2v), so if the board is designed for 1.8-2v, it may be trying to push that through the ram, which could either break it, or just not work. I can't say for sure if buying dual channel ram will fix it, but if that IS the problem, it might help.

Will these work then?

The link further up says to go with a 1.6mhz duel channel kit for the x48 blackops (which these are) but would like to get some comfirmation before I splash out the cash for them.

Have yet to be able to boot my PC up using an OCZ 850 watt PSU as it keeps shutting itself down.

I assume you ignored my post and never checked the compatibility of your components on the Xtremesystems site?

Guys, before you go ordering this board, head over to the Xtremesystems forums.

Have a look for the two stickies. - Blackops PSU compatibility
& the Blackops memory compatibility.
Just to keep yourself right.

That sounds to me like it is a PSU compatibility issue.

This board is really picky about RAM! One of my mates ordered some gskill ripjaw stuff and after that didn't work some corsair xms3 neither of which worked (both 03 memory code). Now he has to send both back and try some other stuff.

just got a blackops for my other quad and, only have 1.65v dominator lol
sucks!

will lower voltage ram work if it has its required voltage? i shamelessy nicked this pic from another site

so it can go down to 1.65v easily and default is 1.65?

ram i got is Corsair TR3X6G1600C8D

the voltage is not the issue, it's just that the modules might not work well with the x48 chipset.

I'm slightly confused as to what RAM to order. There are people here saying to stick to Duel channel DDR3 RAM as it runs at a higher voltage, yet the links posted about all point to triple channel RAM which people are saying will more often than not NOT work with the BlackOps.

My PC at the moment is currently an expensive paper weight with out any RAM to get it going. Can anyone point out a specific piece of duel channel DDR3 RAM that they KNOW works with the mobo? Would be most appreciated :)
