Silent Hill sequel shooting next year...

finally, seems like it's been ages.

IMHO most adaptations have been bad. The resident evil franchise wasn't the best but didd tie in well with the older games. The movie itself of Silent Hill I found to be a bit disappointing. There just wasn't enough of being alone. There were just too many characters too soon.

Most movies are just plain spin offs, hardly any succeed

Videogames won't be treated seriously like Graphic Novels are until there is a major movie adaptation that recieves both critical and commercial success. They need a 'Spiderman' moment.

I thought the first film was pretty good. Possibly one of the better video game to film translations and it's cool to see they are making a sequel, finally.

Silent hill was a very good game. when I saw the movie I wanted to cry. It is absolutly horrible. If they make another I wont be watching it. One of the worst films ever.

There are better games that have been made into movies. Mario Bros for one.

Even Resident Evil was better.

I actualy liked the Resident Evil movies more than I liked the games, incidentaly just noticed in that article that there is a new one of them to.

Will be looking forward to this, the first Silent Hill movie was good apart from the random bits with Sean Bean, hope they keep it going.

Also looking forward to the Prince of Persia movie.

lol

better news I think, there is said to be a resident evil 4 with the surviving cast members and leon is said to be in a main story holding position :)

I actually liked the film, thought it was one of the better game > film ports I'd seen. It had lots wrong with it of course, too many characters, not enough feeling of isolation, but a lot of the 'feel' of the town was right on the money I thought.

Looking forward to seeing the new one.

I was pleasantly suprised by the SH movie, I quite liked the fact that instead of just re-telling the first games story, they made something new, while still making something that clearly captured the "feel" of a Silent Hill game.

Very few films make my friends jump, but the few of them that saw it and didn't know about the games, genuinely were scared in places by the film. It was a testiment to the way they realised the games imagery that I got comments such as "wow, thats... really very weird!"

I hope they do as good a job with the sequel, and I hope they do something similar in terms of the story line. I.e. take the second game as the base plot then intermix it with components from the other games as well as a bit of original thinking.

Looking forward to it :)

Definitely one of the better video game adaptations and it was a pretty decent film. Will be keeping my eyes of this.
