Steam Weekend Deal: The Secret of Monkey Island: Special Edition 50% off at £3.49

well actually I viewed a youtube video because it was getting astonishing reviews from you so called hardcorers, but you should have known that if you can read my mind :o

Bought this anyway even if I never get round to playing it. I've wasted much more money on things I've never played or used before so why stop that now! :p

£3.49 http://store.steampowered.com/app/32360/

At this price until around lunchtime Mon 21st!

NOOO just bought it 4 days ago for 8euro :(

/cries

It's a great game but i don't like the pop ups for the choice of menu :(

Isn't this the crappy 'HD' remake that looks like a bad childrens cartoon?
I played the original way back when, but this remake does look crap and I can't see it being as good an experience as the original, even with the rose tinted glasses of nostalgia.
I'll be keeping my £3.49 this week :D

You can switch it into 'rose-tinted-glasses-of-nostalgia' mode (AKA classic mode) during the game if the graphics offend you. You do lose the speech if you do that though.

BTW this isn't so much of a remake, as a re-skin. The new graphics simply replace the old ones frame-for-frame. The underlying engine is exactly the same, so it's the same game just with new graphics, new score and a speech track (and worse user interface, but that's by the by). At £3.49 it's still an absolute bargain.

Like a true alchoholic, I have started rating prices in 'pints I could buy with the money'.

I'll have more fun playing this than drinking 1.5 pints down t'pub -- therefore I'll get it.

!

Agreed at 3.49 it is a bargain. When njj1046 said it was one of the first games he played on the PC, well... I was playing it on the Amiga before that - just goes to show how long ago it was.

It's an absolutely stunning game - but it's about playing and enjoying the storyline. Rather than trying to get the new FPS with next gen graphics.

On a related note (don't think this has been mentioned, but..), Telltale are giving away a free Monkey Island Tales episode tomorrow.

Is there any 'smallprint' I don't realise with this free offer? As in -- am I going to have to give them my credit card number 'just for their records', then install their own 'download manager' that then embedds itself in my register and refuses to ever be uninstalled , that also opens up every time I start Windows and starts serving me ads, then I notice an extra search-bar appearing on my internet explorer, and start madly start recieving advert emails? Then my credit card suddenly gets deducted £9.99 because I didn't opt-out of the auto-chargeable (not free) patches they release whenever they fancy?

not that it's ever happened before -- honest guv!

So -- is this deal as simple as it sounds?

Thanks for the heads up, I have some friends who would love to try this offer.

Stop being so cynical, not everyone in this world is out to con you.
