Not being funny but this is why I got it for a console. PC gaming = hassle like this a lot of the time (but not all the time granted).

I had problems like this with Games for Windows Live when I played Fallout 3 on PC. Are you sure you are actually required to be logged into it in order to be able to save progress? That is shocking. It could possibly be a graphics card issue with the game itself but that doesn't sound right to me. Sorry, useless post I know.

no need to bring this now phonesis. there are thousands of pc gamers who are playing batman:aa with no problems. of course a few will have some problems related to drivers or sth similar but a few will also get the RROD when they just beat that hard boss

I was actually hinting that you should use a crack.... However after looking, it seems you still need to use window's live albeit in an offline mode to save.

This is a new problem to me. Usually you should be able to play offline with saving once you've created an offline account.

I do this with all my Windows Live games. I practically never play online, but once my offline account is established, I'm not even connected to the net any more, and I've never had a problem.

If this is a new 'feature' of Windows live, I know where to turn to to defend myself (cough).

Here. I've just remembered, didn't they once try that stunt with Viva Pinata and crashed and burnt with it?

Just create an offline GFWL profile, it will still save the game fine.

You just wont' be able to update the game without logging into your online profile.

Its probably to do with the fact that it cant access or cant save to the save game location, permissions etc. Best bet is to check what the default save location is and make sure that exists and is accessible.

When you first installed/ran it, did it do the Windows live and game update ok? Might be worth an uninstall/reinstall if not.

dx update?

And does it give an error when it crashes? Either a pop up or in the event logs.

edit: and have you tried the launcher and checking/changing the settings down.

Yep you should be able to use an offline profile I think, I set one up for GTA4 and it gets used in DoW2 and stuff like that as well. I did need to download an updated GFWL setup package though.
All seems a bit unnecessary though as I have no interest in collecting 'achievements' etc.
