My friend's fully restored Delorian DMC12

I have seen a number in the flesh at shows and in motor museams and they all looked terrible. A badly concieved and poorly built car when it was modern and today it's still the same. Each to their own however.

to be fair the films kinda sucked too..so buying a car from a sucky film isnt great.. but if this dude is rich enough to not care then why not?!

they are rare..

but then so are mad max'd mantas...

Nice, saw one restored to even better condition than this the other day, I wonder how much that cost!

Rubbish car, but really cool and a piece of motoring history.

The first film is solid gold. The 2nd and 3rd are basically sequentially less good retelling of the same story.

From a distance I think these cars look cool, as well as the rear. But on closer inspection . . .

you must have selective memory, i watched part of the first one over the weekend and i found it difficult to digest - it isnt really that good...

it just has a strange reputation/aura around it and i have never understood why...

Do do do, da da do do do doooooooo...

Err yeah, big BTTF fan here. I love watching the films, make me feel warm and fuzzy inside.

Got up close to one at a local Cars in the Park event and wasn't as badly looking made as I would imagine one to be. The only car you can get away washing with washing up liquid and sealing with baby oil :D

Watched them all back to back about a month ago. I'm not saying you have to enjoy it of course; but I certainly did. You either enjoy it or you don't; much like the car :)

+1

I think I would have been tempted to update the interior, that grey plastic is pretty horrible, but then I guess that's the point of a restoration project.

Don't think you would ever get bored of driving it, or referring to it as "the delorian" :)

The movies are classics which helped define a decade and are still firm family favorites across the world, if that doesn't make a good movie i don't know what does, i feel Nickg may need to try harder next time if he wishes to start an argument.

Anyways, only ever seen one of these in the UK and got up close to one in America, cool looking cars imho.

Watched the first film the other day and enjoyed it just as much as ever.

Great 80's film!

I personally think 80's era films are still some of the best. There's something more believable compared to today as films are crammed with too much CG. Plus they have a certain charm, especially Back to the Future, that they were films shown on TV as I was growing up so I recognise them for my childhood.

Naturally, I have an imagination and can utilise it to enjoy a childhood favourite, much like I did as a child.

Anyway, enough OT, there's a lot more to the DeLorean story than the films. There was a big article in an old magazile at my tyre fitters that spanned a number of pages which was a great read. It was a thick car magazine but dunno which one it was sorry.

Just needs lowering and decatting, make the car how was meant to be!

Not the best classic car in the world but certainly a worthy one with a good story (not even mentioning the film) behind it as well.

Ive never seen one in the flesh - but always loved them (and yes I love the original BTTF film too for my "sins" :D)

It does look horrendous inside especially - but if I had the money I would probably buy one so hope he enjoys it ( Im nowhere near that well loaded, so its unlikely I will ever have to put my money where my mouth is to prove the point either :D:D)
