OcUK Photo Comp - Season Eight : Round Nine - "Curves" DISCUSSION

Great pro model for an amateur as she's really easy going, no attitude which I was expecting!!

Was going to ask, seeing as there are a few model types being shot for this months comp, how exactly do you approach them on the sites listed cos the things Ive seen certainly on model mayhem all the models listed are for paid assignments combined with set make up artists etc etc and appear quite unapproachable from the amateurs perspective. Fair enough a paid assignment is a paid assignment but its more to do with the list of other people a lot of models use as mentioned makeup ar****, wardrobe etc. its all a bit daunting

Ok this wasn't a free shoot - she charged £30 an hour which I thought was reasonable as this is her job (gotta pay the bills) and I actually thought that was a good rate! I was lucky as she was supposed to be on a shoot in spain that got cancelled!

Some still won't work with amateurs though and that's their perogative.

In the two hours I learnt loads and we were chatting for about an hour or so after over a cuppa. For me there's no point working with the amatuer models to start of with, they can't pose, look awkward and need a lot of guidance from the tog as to what they want. Pro's can give you so many ideas on looks what works what's not so cool!

Others things that are good is she knows of a couple of studios, which are good which aren't so good and she knows the people so I'm hoping I can get in there and learn about studio lighting and the like! Overall she just seemed happy to help!!

Experience was priceless in my view! can't wait to do more!

Thats good to know, granted some wont work with amateurs but i guess putting up a request for model wanted will attract the models who do wish to work with amateurs even if its to help themselves as well with their portfolio. Was pleasantly surprised to read how much she charged as well so a couple of hours wont really dent the wallet too much especially considering the prices of some lens we all have out eyes on. Thanks for the information.

Not a problem mate! She will charge more depending on the assignment and nudity levels involved - £30 is the cheapest - Topless was another £5 I think but I think the Mrs might have smashed my camera had I gone that route! lmao

Any other questions just give me a shout!

My competition entry is back on now that I have my new camera arriving today.

My Mum is away (Yes I live with my Mum again, big whoop, wanna fight about it?) so no troubles with having Helen sprawled out on our dining table stark naked, haha!

I have the perfect image in my mind, and I'm going to test the lighting out tonight so that I am fully prepared. Should be able to knock it out in 10-15 minutes if I get myself sorted tonight. Fingers crossed!

her standing in the patio door, naked, expose for the light, so you just see the Silhouette of the curve. :p get the pose right and bingo !

I won't be doing any full body shots of her with no clothes on so I think that idea is out I'm afraid :p

I do have in mind what I want, I just hope I can pull it off (so to speak!)

A slightly beat up, but (so I'm told) perfect working condition Canon 5D Mk I :)

It's supposed to arrive at my desk here before 1pm, my lunch is at 1pm, and I have my nifty fifty with me today to have a play with on lunch :)

Very Nice - not up on my Cannon cameras but assume that's one of the better ones!! Hope it arrives in time for you to have a play about!
