Ok I know theres load of threads all over the web but I have to get direct answers,

1) I understand that DTS is not able to play through HDMI, but if I use HDMI for Video and Optical cable for audio, am I able to play with DTS sound track? (my receiver has DTS and DD.

2) Can the WDTV play absolutely every MKV file no matter what way it has been transcoded such as L4.1 and such?

1/ Yes
2/ no idea. I thought MKV was a container, so it would depend on the codecs used on the files inside? I've never found an issue though.
