My friends remix has been played twice on radio 1 :)

Just because when you were involved in the scene the best thing people had were some pretty crap Technics doesn't mean that's how it should always be done.

personally i wouldn't call any of them remixes ? its just tracks mixed together isnt it ?

theres not one original note of music in the ones on his myspace anyway

This stands out for me. I decided to finally take a listen to the Uni YouTube and it just doesn't seem to be all that.

well that track thats been on the radio every part of it is BIG tracks from the last few years. not even just samples really. its full parts of tracks

id class it as a minimix like the ones played on annie macs show. not a bad one mind

i see where your coming from malc , especially with that video

take a look at this if you have never seen it before though. some very interesting points about how technology can improve DJing
and its not like hes doing it just because its easier as he can probably mix vinyls in his sleep.

even the old school turntableists are using the likes of serato/tracktor thesedays. theres only so much you can do with vinyl and people reached those limits years ago

I knew that Hawtin vid would crop up soon enough when people get onto DJ'ing nowadays!

I'm not the one that refuses to move on from 1989. If you think 1200s/10s are good decks then you're more deluded than you think I am. Yes they seem to be the standard and have a following that they don't deserve, but they're garbage by today's standards.

Then again it doesn't normally take long in any DJ related discussion before the vinyl purists arrive. If all you're going to listen to are DJs that use vinyl exclusively then you have a very small list to work with.
