Ok, so I popped round my mates yesterday and saw AC gathering dust in her room, thought I may as well borrow it as the only time I ever played it was on my old rig (8800GTX sli e6600 setup... with a 21" CRT) So, started playing it on the 360 and wow, looks stunning on the 37" series 6 samsung! Plus its a lot smoother than it was on my pc!

I like it! I hate to say it, but it's dug its claws, woke up at 5 as usual this morning, first thing I did was play it! Not done that in ages.

Not sure what it is, but it defo has a grip on me

Yep I love that game got 1K GS on 360 and also bought it on PC and got 100% on that as well. Great game. AC2 is only 2 months away on 360 as well!!

Repetitive, yes. But a lot of people don't give AC as much credit as they should because of it. It can still be quite an awe inspiring game - I just hate the fact every time you dive off a tall point, it's in to a cart of hay. Who keeps leaving these carts in strategic positions?!

I would have classed it as a benchmark of what can be done in a game. The graphics obviously arn't the greatest, but for the size of the game they are very, VERY impressive. The game mechanics are spot on, no unrealistic slaughtering of 15 guards without blocking or moving your feet, free flow free running but not to a stupid extent. Life size city(s)...

Can't wait to get stuck into it tonight :D

I loved it, no more repetitive than any other game in my opinion.

This.

I hate it when people complain about it being repetitive, it's about as repetitive as COD or Halo or nearly every other game out there, in fact there are a lot of worse games around for it.

I'm not sure what can be repetative about it, obviously the assassinations will be due to that being what the game is about lol.

But I have never played more than 4 hours into it so can't really comment :(

I had it on rental and played quite a bit, went on holiday for 2 weeks...came back and couldn't bring myself to get back into at the time so sent it back. I might get it on rental again when there's a lull in releases (gaming calendar is booked up until January now!)

I'm not sure how you can't find this game to be repetitive to be honest. I played it through to the end but I really had to force myself to finish it. From what I remember there were about 4 tasks or so to do over and over again. Walking around pick pocketing people isn't my idea of fun.

Also, I hated the combat in just about everyway. Timing button presses doesn't do anything for me.

It wasn't all bad though, I enjoyed some parts of the free running and I appreciated how vast the arenas were in the game.

I 100%ed it on xbox - it was a good game but it is too repetitive in my opinion - more so than other games?? the repetiitveness is certainly more boring than playing other games such as gears 2 or cod 4 on multiplayer... the same 5 missions in 3 cities done exactly the same way over each time with a certain setting.. I hope no.2 is more varied which it supposedly promises. Less boring and frustrating if you dont intend on collecting all the flags :)

This is the last game I found properly addictive.

Completed it and am really looking forward to the second, it'll be a launch day buy for me. Loved the free roaming around, nutting the lepers and jumping off tall buildings only to miss and SPLAT! :D

I thought it was absolutely stunning. It took my breath away when you're climbing up one of the steep church spires and the game pans out to show you how high up you are and how far you can see.

The fights, though not as complex as they look, were also visually stunning, producing lots of 'oohs' and 'ows' as guards were dispatches in different ways.

Another game I started but need to finish.

Agree on graphics though, the city views are stunning on my Pio 5090

No it's not, man :) Whilst you're killing the same enemies and completing the same objectives in CoD or Halo (reach point A, destroy vehicle B, open door C, etc), the variation in location, setting, atmosphere, and details (destroy tank A in mission 1, destroy anti-aircraft station in mission 2) make it feel like you're doing something different. Assassin's Creed suffers from forcing you to literally pick pocket someone else in a different town which looks very similar to the one you've just come from. Then you have to eaves drop to a conversation in a plaza that's very similar to the previous town's......

There's not a lot of variation, there's no debate there. And it's just not comparable to the illusion of variation displayed in CoD or Halo. But that's not to say that Assassin's Creed is half as bad as most people make you believe, I'm personally a fan of it.

Meh, repetitive, maybe so... It could be argued that running around shooting the same bad guys for a few hours is repetitive also.
It's if you have fun playing it that's the main point. I actually did find AC fun to play.
Looked great, there was potential to just mess around if you wanted, had an alright storyline (imo). Hell, for a while I even started collecting flags and killing templars. I then slapped myself for being foolish...

Sorry but you're wrong. Someone who wasn't keen on FPS games would see shooting someone in a different level as being just as repetitive as AC. The difference is whether you find that repetition enjoyable, some do, dome don't with both games.

As I said, I think it's down to the illusion of variation. Hitting a switch can feel like a different experience if it's in a glowing reactor room rather than a space port's blast doors. But Assassin's Creed's environments aren't that varied, and the missions don't feel as if they've even tried to make them feel different from each other.

I don't think it's down to whether or not you enjoy repetitive gameplay, I think it's more down to whether or not the developers disguise the repetitiveness effectively.

Again that's in your opinion, I think the cities are quite varied (although I would like to see it upped for the next game) and just as varied as say Gears of War's levels.

Assassin's Creed had some great graphics and some not so great graphics. I mean, the cities were basically copy and paste buildings in a large area with the odd copy/paste tower for you to climb.

The civilians in these cities as well just wandered about aimlessly doing nothing (something they have already reported to have worked on with the sequel thankfully).

I found Assassin's Creed incredibly repetitive. The point has been raised that most games are but it was more glaringly obvious in AC. By the time I got to the 4th assassination, I simply did as many side mission things as I absolutely HAD to and then did the assasination - skipped the rest. I might have been able to forgive the repetition if they actually made it interesting but it was like watching paint dry.

None of the information rewards for doing the side quests were particularly useful as (for me at least) all of the assassinations simply involved walking up to the target and hidden blading him before evading all the guards in a city by jumping into a roof garden. Lol.

I enjoyed the combat, some of the combos were brutal but unfortunately blocking attacks was way too easy. If you just held the button down Altair would turn 360 and block an attack coming from behind him haha. Ruined the challenge.

Overall, I quite enjoyed it but it was seriously flawed.
