NOTE: The M15x should not be confused with the Area-51 m15x, this was a previous model from Alienware and differs significantly in style and specification

This is a core i7 though, in addition, the overall quality will probably be a lot better.

Also I would have bought this but it wasn't available when I needed a laptop :<
(a few days ago, lol)

Again please cancel your order as I told Andybtsn yesterday. There is a better machine available, cheaper, with better support (I7 with the GTX280 instead of the M15x' GTX260, plus cheaper upgrade options).

For obvious forum reasons I cant tell you exactly what on here but please PM me and I'll drop you the details, the brand is well reputed in the Uk and based in London.
Alienware Europe tech support is also awful.
With the other company you may well be able to fit the I820 instead of 720 into your budget.

Best way to cancel my order is now my biggest problem.

looks like the only way to get a refund is to return your order any advice guys ?

Could try ringing the sales dept up; at the end of the day its cheaper for them not to have to make the machine; than it is to build it, test it, send it out and have it returned under DSR.

Alex has also raised questions over my order of the M15x. Problem is I'm in Lanzarote at the mo so can't call Dell at the mo, and I have paid via finance anyway so would need to find out if this other company does it. I also got £100 off my order so got a good spec laptop for just under £1300.

I understand Alex had various issues with Alienware so it concerns me somewhat but after googling various info I have heard good stuff too.

I priced up a Laptop on the website Alex gave me and it came to quite a bit more than the Alienware machine :( Well see though

Its the G860 you want to look at, the other laptops aren't I7 based :) (The Commanche SLI for example being more of a rival to the M17x)

The other laptops are typically 17"/SLI machines rather than a direct 15" competitor to the M15x, and are at different price points, some not being as good value :)
Directly compared, the G860 should come out cheaper than the M15x in the majority of cases; as well as being a lot cheaper on the upgrade front (the 860 is just 130 to upgrade to the I7 compared to 410 with AW, extended warranty is 40 for second year on the G860 compared to about 100 with the AW, you already have a GTX280 rather than having to pay to upgrade to the GTX260 etc)

My problem with AW comes from the simple fact the TS has moved to Poland earlier this year, where I was passed around, not phoned or emailed back like I was promised; fobbed off, lied to, told there was no customer support department to talk to, where they apparently werent getting back responses to emails to the despatches department trying to chase the parts order, where they took more than the agreed deposit for the replacement parts, lying on stock availability, having to ring them about 25 times etc etc etc. On top of this they weren't receptive to suggestions or temporary solutions to even try and have me up and running more immediately.

What should have been a simple part swapout has been a absolute ****ing nightmare for me; and if you look at notebookreviews.com, you'll see Im not the only one who's had issues with AW in Europe over last few months; Im not trying to say this happens to everyone; BUT I've seen more than a few people having similar issues recently, with similar sentiments on not buying again.

Its not the sort of service you expect when buying an expensive laptop.

I love my M17 when it works; but the service recieved from AW has been terrible, and the worse I've experienced. I'd put it on a worse level than Fujitsu Siemens, whom I bought a previous laptop from with obvious design defects, and I certainly wont be buying off them again, at least for the next few years.

Well to further enforce why you shouldnt buy AW, my laptop returned today from AW...not working.
They've actually sent my laptop back not working. Absolute ******* joke.
