Help - What Do I Buy (5850 or GTX275)?

Overclockers just refunded my faulty GTX275 so I have around £200 to spend on a new graphics card. Should I go for the ATI 5850? Is this better than the GTX 275?

I always swore by ATI in the past then converted to NVidia; could I now be swinging the other way (ooeer!)

I know the 5850 is DX11 but is anything going to take advantage of DX11 yet?

Any advice greatly appreciated; especially if somebody can confirm the 5850 will outperform the GTX275.

Thanks,
Andy

5850 will pee on the 275 from a great height, so ATI is the way to go IMO, first real proper game to take advantage of DX11 will be dirt 2 out this November.

Wow quick responses. It already sounds like the 5850 is the way to go. What is the stock situation like; does anybody know when stock will be arriving?

Thanks,
Andy

this is hard to answer as there are literally no reviews available for a 5850, it is very likely to outperform a gtx275 but i think it would be wise to wait for a review

5850 outperforms the 285 and ocs like a mofo, so easy choice.

How do you know it OCs? If they use GPUs that weren't up to snuff for the 5870 in terms of the clock rate they could reach, then they might not OC at all. Links and proof are better than rampant speculation.

Kezmo, only review I can see on Anandtech is for the 5870, and the only review I have seen of the 5850 is taken from a downclocked and softmodded 5870 that was used to give an impression of how the 5850 would perform. You know of any other sources?

On the subject of the 5850 vs 275, the simulated 5850 was faster than the 285 - it looks like a no brainer frankly, 5850 all the way.

Will fit fine if you've had a 275 in there, as the 5850 is only 9.5 inches long. :)

Excellent news.

I see 4 different manufacturers on the Overclockers website; all with different ETAs. What are Powercolor cards like, are they any good or should I hold on for a few days more for the XFX card?

Thanks,
Andy
