planning on getting a new monitor for xmas and was originaly going to get another 20" ultrasharp to go with my current for dual screen.

but, i have been thinking of getting a 24" and connecting my 360 up to it also so i can play when the gf wants to watch tv.

will there be much performance difference between the standard 24" dell the 24" ultrasharp?

cant afford £440 for the ultrasharp but if its not much difference i can get a standard one for £200.

i was looking at a standard dell 24 the other day compared to mine ultra sharp - three other people who use the standards were moaning about the colours. Personally I noticed the greens were bleeding badly and the purples looked pink.

I have a Dell Ultrasharp 2408WFP which I use both as my PC monitor and TV.
I think it's fantastic. It's a PVA panel rather than a TN one which means better colour, better blacks and whites and better viewing angles.
Previously I had a 22" Samsung which was great but you had to sit right in front of it to watch a movie.
In games it performs very well and I also use it for Photoshop editing. The colour gamut is much greater than the Samsung.
Some say that PVA panels have a slight input lag which affects gaming. I'm not a high level gamer but I don't notice it at all.
My advice would be to go for it (although there's a newer model I believe). The build quality is superb, the stand is very adjustable and there's USB ports and a card reader on the side of the panel plus more connections at the back than I know what to do with.

Cheers, John:D

PS. I hear very good reports of the HP LP2475W. Check it out.

thx for the info, i think im gonna get another 20" ultrasharp, cant afford £450 for the 24" ultrasharp. ive been using my xbox on my current 20" for a few days and its not as bad as i thought going froma 32" tv to a 20" monitor.

also want my monitors to match :p so im not getting anything but another dell.

Good idea going for another ultrasharp, they are usually the very best of the dells and come with a "Premium Pixel Guarantee" which is very nice indeed.

My monitor suggestion would be this Dell Ultrasharp 2209WA. It uses an eIPS panel, so it is on-par with the 2408WFP in terms of image quality and viewing angles, but far better for input lag. I got my sister one of these, and I use it when I'm back home - it looks fantastic.
