Compatible gpu coolers

Looking at your previous post, it looks like those capacitors are a real problem. I'm sure most of the smaller coolers will run into a similar problem as the vortexx.

With this in mind, how much room do you have next to your graphics card? I ask because this cooler will fit the card and doesn't look like it will run into the same capacitor problems. The only problem is that its massive (need to add a fan to it as well) and expensive. However, the size can be a benefit as it looks like you can add a 120mm fan to it, therefore you can get an awesome (and quiet) fan like this and keep everything super cool.

yep, you're right and many thanks for the reply. you hit the nail on the head. since posting this thread, i think the hr-03-gt is gonna be my new baby, weight allowing that is. having seen this review, it looks like it sits really high over the board which is brilliant, so it should clear all caps and sinks easily, and presumably line up with the holes on my particular card, right? http://www.hardwarecanucks.com/foru...eon-hd4870-512mb-graphics-card-review-21.html

I'll be getting a blue LED fan btw, I need fancy lights, which is why I bought the akasa! :p

My biggest concern is weight especially with a fan on. There's some bending on it already, and the power connectors are pulling down on it. Have a look, do you think it will hold the cooler and fan without snapping the card?

Heh, np.

Could I buy 2 extension cables for the 2 x 6 pin power connectors? I think that might allow me to support the cables higher up in the case, take pressure off them and keep card straighter since they're already being extended to the max since I fed them through holes and behind the motherboard tray.
