HTC Hero, coming July on Orange and T-Mobile, makes me want!

I had this problem, installed the latest modaco rom and hey presto, no data connection.

All you need to do to solve it is to specify an APN, the original entry gets deleted with the new ROM.

settings>wireless controls>mobile network settings>access point names... press menu and then new APN.

Name it orange, and put "orangeinternet" as APN (without the quotations), leave the rest blank, save it and it should pick up the data connection pretty much straight away.

I knew people mentioned having to enter some APN or something settings before, but nobody mentioned what they were etc.

Working now. :D

Now I just need a decent signal...which I don't get in my new house. :(
 
Hey I was just wondering if there was a way to get capital fm's on air to work on the hero? Ie listen to capital via their website? Would be great as its blocked at work.
 
Ok maybe one of you guys can help me..

And what outgoing mail server should i use for my SMTP accounts? i tried smtp.orange.net and it dont work.. neither does my ISP's mail server.

tried modaco's 2.3 rom and it seems like it's faster, but the bad news is it has screwed up my texts in that i cant read them :(

trouble is i'm now on windows 7 and can't get htc sync to work and retry updating the rom. have searched for a work around but nothing that worked. anyone any suggestions?

Also there seems to be a lot of people saying 2.2 is nippier than 2.3. Im going back to 2.2. now to see if i notice anything.

Has anyone managed to get instant push email from gmail to happen opposed to a 5 minute check?

In case anyone is interested, I've just got a set of the HTC screen protectors. They seem ok for glare and have a nice smooth feel. They also seem as good as the screen for fingerprints etc. They come in a 2 pack and I paid a fiver delivered which seems better value than some other branded ones.

I have the HTC ones. they are smoothe and clear but they seem to accumulate so much grease and dirt from my fingers :(
Havent tried any other HERO ones. my winmo ones are good bought from a shop i cant name but cheap and chearful :)

Did you not do a nandroid backup?
