The other week i hit a mahoooosive pothole in the road, 16" across, 39" long and 5" deep, just had time today to take to wheel place to see if they can fix the back wheel,

Wheel cant be fixed and 2 tyres are fubared too  but the worst bit is that OZ superleggeras arent produced any more they have moved onto ultraleggeras now so that means 4 new wheels and 2 new tyres lol

So very very soon Kirklees council are going to be getting a bill for £782 lol

luckily it was on my fiesta every day car but still not impressed at all due to this being a replacement set of wheels after the first Ford original set were damaged to potholes !

Rant over lol

Matt

that would have to be one huge pot hole lol

unless you stopped each time and logged and took pictures of each hole i dont thnk youd get anywhere

The council will only pay for one wheel/tyre. They don't car if you have a set of mismatching tyres or wheels.

Not true, or at least for kirklees council, the bloke at the wheel and tyre place has had 3 claims now where a full set of alloys and tyres were replaced,

if it wasnt for their neglegence i wouldnt have to change my wheels so its their fault that it needs 4 now due to superleggeras not being made any more

Matt

You'll probably get a single wheel off ebay for what, £150 with a tyre?

so you want me to look for ONE oz superleggera wheel 7" x 17" et 37 offset and anthracite in colour while i drive around on 2 unsafe tyres and one severely damaged wheel ?

i bet you will be looking for quite some time before just one wheel matching my requirements comes up on ebay lol

Just because it's their fault doesn't mean they will pay out. 4 cars got destroyed in 1hour. Due to road works with no cones or lighting, newspapers ans solicitors got involved and Gloucester council still did not pay out.

They will be taken to court then, ?

then you will probably lose more money.

Unless you can prove that a problem was reported and then no acted on in a reasonable time. Then you are pretty much screwed. At least that's how the above one turned out. Good luck though, if it's anything like down here. they are a right bunch of cowboys.

What's road tax? road tax does not exist.

but the problem should not have been there in the first place no ?

Did this actually happen or are you talking hypothetically? If it did, what a bunch of ********!!

this actually happened 4 cars with no gearboxes and underside damage. All nicely lined up on the side of the road.

MY GOD!!! I hate City Council's.

I find it peculiar though that they did not have to pay out even though roadworks weren't clearly marked with cones or lights.
I've heard of a few cases of people getting fines and the warning signpost (i.e. 30mph) not being the right measurements, so the government eventually had to reimburse them. :D Strikes me as a similar situation.

Their defence was kids must have stolen them and no one had reported it to the council and as such how where they meant to know and correct the problem.
I've heard similar with potholes,

There was a documentary about this on tv. If someone from the council has come out and inspected it or it was caused over night i.e flash flood damaging the road then the council wont pay out.

Talk about cutting people some slack.

That reminds me of a documentary I once saw about illegitimate fines. It was so funny. Basically, the council had put a bus lane in front of the car park entrance of a business (I forget which), and everytime someone went to work and went home the same day, they'd get fined for having driven in the bus lane.
When this was reported to Dispatches, if I remember correctly, the car park CCTV showed a van and two men removing the bus lane markings overnight. :D Priceless!

matt - have you got this sorted yet?
the same thing happened to me the other night.

if your wheels are the same size we could get a set between us and split them?

mine are 4x100 et37 17" superleggeras sil/grey.
