The builders have shown up again! (thought they'd forgotten where the place was tbh)

Heating is finished, system is filled and not leaking (always a good start) I'll run the power to the boiler tomorrow and we'll see if we can get some heat into the place

Landlord has changed his mind about the carpets and doors. For the better

He paid a few quid and he's got the run of a few new build units (finance has forclosed, get everything out before the bank get the key!s) so i'm getting some nice doors and other odds and ends

^^ slightly better than the £15.99 white panel units i'd say

And they'll match nicely with the wood flooring too

Things are moving again. Which is good as our youngest started primary school at the new place today and it's a bit of a commute!

Chippie started putting down the wood flooring for me too! He's getting through it a bit quicker than i would have, plan was to fit what we had, then get some more in a few weeks once funds allowed, however the guy layed most of what we had in one afternoon (living room, hallway and dining room) and said if we get some more he can finish the job tomorrow!

We are IN! Moved in about 10 days ago now, only just got the virgin media line plugged in (yay, 1mb broadband!)

Big change of pace compared to living in the last place. We're used to constant traffic, noise from the pubs and fighting in the street. Here, there is virtual silence after 7pm.
Our 4 year old had trouble getting to sleep for a few days as she's lived her whole life with a street light near her window and lots of background noise, whereas this place is silent and dark (nearest streetlight is about 50m away)
Cleared the front garden of crap, then dragged more down from the back garden so it's full up again.

Getting used to some modern luxuries i've not had for a few years, like instant hot water (last place had those "over the sink" electric boilers and the flat before that had an electric hot water tank in the airing cupboard, this gas boiler lark rocks

) and GCH (even if it did spring a leak on the second night we were here :eek:

)

Got a load of pictures on my phone to show how well this place has finished, i just need to find the cables to upload them.
