I've been looking at the Asus P7P55D Intel P55 (Socket 1156)

I'm not sure if it's right for me. Here is what I want:

- I want to overclock my Core i5 750 to 4GHz.
- I want a PCI-E slot for my ATI HD5850 card, the PCI-E slot should be in a good position...
- I want to RAID-0 two SATA-II HDD's.

I'm NOT interested in a bunch of gimicks and extras that enthusiastic benchmarkers and overclockers might use. I intend to OC to 4GHz and then leave it like that- until I buy a new system.

I'll be playing the latest games, so I want some quality in my motherboard... for £115, will I get that?

One more question: between a £115 motherboard and £180 motherboard, what are the differences? They all seem to have similar amounts of SATA and PCI-E slots and stuff.

Well ive got the LE version and the only difference i can see for the extra £15 is the non LE version has 12+2 phase power and the LE has 8+2 phase power.

Im happy with my board, my only niggle is the cooler blocks the first RAM slot.

Which cooler do you have? Would a Corsair H50 be fine?

The H50 will fit easily. If you want a 4 ghz oc the LE will probably do that with minimal tweaking. I can only see a difference is there are no heatsinks above and to the left of the cpu and the 8+ 2 phase instead of the 12+2 phase on the P7P55D.

Yup just done 4Ghz quite happily, i may do more but i wouldnt push it any more as temps would be off the scale.

What kind of voltage are you using for your cpu? And did you change any other voltages or did you just up the base clock and cpu vcore.

Vcore is set to 1.3v. The only other vlotage i changed was the memory volts to make sure it was getting enough juice to run at 1600Mhz

Very nice, voltage looks pretty decent, im beginning to think i maybe spent a bit to much on i7, when the i5 series chips are doing so well at a lesser price point, nice clock paul:)
