Special offer at Halfords?

I've got the same kit (cost me £99 too).

I managed to do a whole engine conversion with that and a breaker bar, def worth a punt.

*considers* i've got a halfords pro kit from about 20 years ago. no sockets have broken and the rachet still works. the box is looking tatty though. hmmmmmmmm. :D i might wait until i actually need anything else though. hmmmmmmmmmmmm:)

All the Halfords tools come with a lifetime warrantee as well (apart from the ratchets unfortunately, as they have moving parts).

Slightly OT but a friend of mine just picked up a drill, angle grinder, jig saw and torch for £40 at Aldi yday :D 3 year warrantee.

I'd never use anything but 6 sided sockets personally!

There are so many situations I've been in where a 6 sider would be slow, impractical, awkward or just plain impossible to use that I can't agree with this. Right tool for the job does not always mean using what theoretically should be the "best" tool.

So many important fixings are Torx these days as well, so 6 siders arent so important anymore.

Impact sockets, then yes, 6 siders all the way

My halfords set seems to be about the only kit thats been worth the money i've paid for it. I've probably had it 3+ years and it gets used a lot. Managed to break one of the torx bits and got it swapped straight away no questions asked.

Sockets have took a lot of abuse too with me swinging off the end of them on a 24" breaker bar.

Had my pro set for about 15 year aswell, all still working fine and pretty well used.
Great socket set, dont know who makes them for Halfords.

Sykes Pickavant apparently.Good quality gear from my experience of them in the past, not quite as good as snap-on, but not far off.

Had my halfords tools since I was racing, they never let me down then, and havent since. I havent bought tools from anywhere since, they are good value.

Got the different Pro sets (1/4. 3/8. 1/2) on;y had to replace the 3/8 ratchet due to wear, but that was after a lot of use.
As for 6/12 debate- 6 sides are always better for rusted nuts/bolts and I use them when i can as they don't damage the fastener. But sometime 12-points are more convienient.

I got a £20 socket set from them to see what all the fuss is about, and even though they were 1/4" drive they're fantastic :)

Did a lot of work on the car with them, and not a problem!
