Atlantis and latter SG1 sucked, hard. THe need for a decent enemy or "goal" thats not, crap, is massive.
Will they switch from an enemy to a goal this time, are they going to be trying to find a way home, don't know.
As for the idea that there will be no transplanted humans, my initial thought is, they will find a way, not least because its cheaper to have humans dressed up in different garb, than have a new type of monster on every planet they encounter, so some ridiculous reason for "humans" to be on almost every planet they come across will almost no doubt present itself.
Considering where SG1/Atlantis ended up, from where SG1 started and the guess that many of the same writers/creators are involved, I can't imagine it will be very good. THe cast seems, uninspired, and likea checklist of every stereotype any standard of the rack show must have in it. The techy geek, the military leader, the new guy caught up in the whole thing whose a genius, the civilan leader, the politician, etc, etc.
Predictable is what it seems it will be.
