should i go windows 7 or stick with vista,i have no problems with vista but what im hearing about W7 sounds good, altho some probs with drivers etc,so,do it when it comes out or wait a while till the drivers and things are sorted

Where are you hearing about driver problems? The drivers are the same as Vista.

Actually, they are not 'quite' the same as Vista. There are some differences, especially with gfx cards (and onboard, etc), and nics.

Apparently, over the next few weeks some serious driver updates are due to be released through WU.

Not had any problems with windows 7 on my PC or laptop.

Its sooo much better than Vista. :)

i'm sure most people don't have any problems but i've had epic grief trying to game on windows 7 64bit since i got an nvidia card. no problems on vista on the same driver package and my old ati card worked fine in 7. but nvidia and 7 are a big no no for me.

i've tried **** knows how many clean installs and i still can't get to the bottom of it. shame as i really like 7.... :p

what drivers are you using. The rest of us are gaming fine on nvidia.

oh i know that. hence the 2 disclaimers in my post. :p

i've tried the all the recent-ish 186/190 betas and WHQLs with no joy at all. even a bare naked install of windows, updates, drivers and a game yields major stuttering. i just bought a game off steam called braid which is a platform game that has minimal system requirements and even that stutters.

i've just installed windows 7 32bit and it appears to be running games ok. needs more testing before i can be sure though. :)

after a few weeks of testing windows 7 it is buy far superior to any other windows i have tryed ill be keeping this 4 sure regards all

7 > Vista

All my home PCs have been migrated to Windows 7 RTM and it's made networking easier with Homegroup :). I'm just waiting for my preorders to arrive so I can activate them all.

sorry to hijack, i'm in the same boat as the op, vista for me is running as smooth as a babies bum but i like what i'm hearing about 7, so is it worth getting.

7 if possible yes. 64 bit Windows 7 (even my early RC) runs so nicely.... I dislike Vista now compared to 7. I regularly switch to Vista as a few things are installed that ain't installed on 7.

If you can upgrade do so I think. :)

I'd say stick with Vista.

I shelled a fair whack for Vista Ultimate and although I do find W7 slightly better, I just cant justify the cost of the upgrade because I dont have any issues with Vista at all and never have.

i am running windows 7 now and must say after a few weeks that i think its better than vista ,seems to me that it takes up less room and loads and closes down quicker.so if you can ----go windows 7

Surely the idea of w7 was to keep the functionality and accessibility of vista, yet with a stable build, loosely based on the old windows xp.

Iv pre-ordered the professional pack. So fingers crossed there should be no probs.

Heck! That's probs why they have scrapped vista. I mean hasnt it only been out like 3 years, ant probs started building w7 through that period? They must have known it had a few probs.

The Jaded Raver :D
