Can you spare £2?

In Namibia, there is a little boy called Timmy.

He only has 1 arm and 1 leg.

Every day he must ride 9 miles, on a broken bicycle with only 1 pedal, and bent wheels.

Can you spare £2?

If so, i'll send you the video. Its bloody hilarious.

It's so nice of you to find disabled boys riding bikes (even imaginary, since if you had ever seen one in real life you wouldn't be making such immature posts) funny.

I can really see the humour in that.

I hope you are a teenager (as that would justify the immaturity), because if you are an adult it would be sad, really sad.

Any other jokes like that you can share with us? Please entertain us by making fun of other people's misery.

I liked this because the post started off very much like one would expect a charity plea, in fact the request for £2 a month echos the well-known charity Oxfam and their plea to help children in the developing world. This is especially enhanced by the description given of 'little Timmy' and the hardships which he has to endure every day, which evokes feelings of sympathy tinged with sadness, and also engenders a willingness to contribute to assist little Timmy in his endeavours.

Then, when I scrolled down to see the bottom of the post, I saw that in actual fact, instead of being a plea for charity, the post was discussing the sale of a hypothetical video of Timmy for the price of £2, I then pictured in my mind what the actual actions of Timmy would look like, preserved in the medium of video and found the thought of this very amusing. The amusement was enhanced by the realisation that the initial description designed to engender sympathy were deliberately misleading, to maximise the contrast in emotions between sadness and symapthy to pleasure and hilarity at the video of little Timmy.

Overall, I appreciated both the juxtaposition of charity and humour, the element of surprise as well as the visual imagery provided by the description of little Timmy and the video, which I found amusing and so smiled, although I did not laugh out loud.

It's not a real story and it's not a real child.

Deadly seriousness is also hilarious. :)

Have to agree with that to be honest. Cannot have people making jokes/made up stories/whatever involving those with disabilities. Some people reading these forums may suffer something similar and we can have no idea how much that kind of thing hurts.

If I were you I wouldn't type so accurately, it offends those with dyslexia. Or those without hands.

Reminds me of a joke I heard:

"I was walking home from work and a woman stopped me to tell me a good joke... it had all the makings of a great laugh, children starving, war torn areas... but I didn't get the punch line. Something about 2 pounds a month!"

Not exactly hilarious though. :p
