Ah; self-superiority mixed with a dash of pontification. A familiar odour.

Using the "evolution of civilisation" as justification for regulating what I should and should not find amusing is, in itself, amusing. My flawed and primitive brain finds alsorts of foul and disgusting things to be hilarious, and yes, on occasion that includes the misfortunate of others. Please, continue to feel superior to me (and everyone else), since you appear to have a lobotomised... I mean "more highly evolved" sense of humour. :p

Understanding the difference between right and wrong is not about superiority or pontification. The fact that someone may laugh with racist jokes is not necessarily related to whether they understand that they are wrong in the firstplace. There is nothing wrong with laughing that you recognise as wrong as long as you are doing just that. The difficulty, through a public forum, lies in understanding whether the OP intended simply to post an ill-humoured (according to some) joke or whether part of him believes it and therefore propagates it left and right. Without certainty of intent it's hard to laugh at it, even if one finds such jokes funny privately.

You could see it as similar to emails, you can't always understand the tone of the person sending you an email so it's easy to take offense or err on the positive side and consider it banter. I hope you can see what I mean.

I personally find such jokes usually distasteful and silly, so I stated my opinion.

I'm not on a crusade - as another poster suggested - as I am simply replying to people who address me.

Got to ask what would you consider a funny joke ?

Many things. Depends who says it and what are his/her intentions. If it's a provocative joke like the OPs and I am not certain on their intention then I can just as easily become defensive and critical.

Two syllables?! Impressive..well done.

When you go from arguing a point to picking holes in others grammar and intellectual ability, this is the point at which you lost said argument/discussion.

If you do not like this kind of thing then avoid GD, we don't care for your opinion on the matter.

Out of interest, have you considered buggering off back to the hole you came from?

A joke was posted, and meant solely as that, nothing more. If I was aforementioned disabled "Timmy", or an individual with similar ailments, then i'd probably be a touch miffed at someone making fun of me, or others like me.

However, I'm not. The joys of perspective.

Now kindly **** off :)

I am sorry but I find it very difficult to respond with an argument/discussion to someone who calls me a "homo". I simply try to address them at the same intellectual level so that they can understand me. Eitherway I was not having a discussion with that particular poster at any rate so there was no argument to lose in the first place.

How would you propose I respond to them?

Coming to think of it, I didn't pick holes in the particular persons intellectual ability. There is no room for that.

Comedians do but that's their "job". You expect that when you go to see/hear them and you know before hand that they don't mean offense. In a public forum you can't tell that.

Then why not assume it? Jokes generally aren't meant to cause offence.

The OP's joke is not at the expense of anyone; it's simply a joke over hypothetical misfortune.

You ignore them like any other mature adult would do.

Dammit why am I feeding the troll now.

O and you are clearly implying a lack of intelligence here
I would be willing to bet that you don't even know what half the words of that copy/paste you did mean.

I'll give you credit for the "Haha", that was something original from your behalf.

Perhaps the "OK -" too, although I'm not too sure.

You sound fun. Do you assess each joke at the end of it before deciding whether or not to have a giggle?

Get a life.

You do see the irony in the "joys of perspective" don't you? You really must!

Oh well nevermind, I gotta sign off for the day in a while anyway. Enjoy poking fun at others whom you consider less able than you so that you can elevate the importance of your own existence in your eyes - it's probably better than therapy. I bet it also makes you feel like a real man.

Yes, it makes us feel completely and utterly alpha.

I hope you don't laugh at south park, or you tube videos of someone getting hit with a football in the groin. I certainly hope you don't laugh at simpsons when homer strangles bart, or when moe gets made fun of by lisa / bart.

:p

Could you please point out to me the connection between making fun of the less fortunate and laughing at mishaps like a "football in the groin" or "homer strangling bart" etc? Cartoons such as the ones you mentioned are meant to be comedy, even black comedy. The OP, especially looking at his reply to me, is obviously a mean person and probably enjoys making fun of the less fortunate - instead of simply repeating a joke he/she heard somewhere.

Have a good day.
