Operation Flashpoint 2-Dragon Rising.

Command system is almost impossible to use in the midst of a firefight (if you want to stay alive) to the point I've all but given up using it which negates the tactical element to the game. Very disappointed as I was really looking forward to this one.

I may be being thick but how do you go back 'up' the command system radial? I go in and drill down a level or two but can't go back up a level so have to quit out of the radial and start again.
Don't think you can.

Also the damn thing should close after you issue a command, it's totally counter-intuitive that you issue a command, go to move only to find you've issued another command instead. Horrible.

Also changing weapons with the mouse wheel brings you to a complete stop which is terrible.

Does anyone else find it really slow when switching between ammo types.

I've only played the first mission so it's that gun I'm talking about. Bit frustrating having to load two types of grenade launcher before being able to get back to bullets.

Is there another way without having to hammer '2'...?

This was me last night lol.

I gave up and Rambo'd my way through...

There's an "Ammo Type" key binding but its buggy, you hold it down and use the mouse wheel to select the ammo type. I've got it bound but quite a few times when I've used it I've lost mouse wheel & mouse pointer functionality completely. YMMV.

I use the numeric keypad for movement so hitting 1-9 is well outside my comfortable reach.

Luckily i got my copy free with my new CPU so if its awful then at least its not cost me anything. Just waiting for it to download now via steam

its strange to see the contrast between PC and 360 users on this game

I suppose PC users are more demanding when it comes to simulations...

I got this for the 360 this time as I wanted the ease of co-op play with non pc owning friends...its more about the communal experience for me

I play armed assault 2 for my own satisfaction on my PC for a more in depth experience

in the end theres games to satisfy every taste

I might get modern warfare 2 for both platforms though as I prefered the single player on the PC on the last one but again because of 360 owning friends I got it for the 360 as well for playing over Live

You see wanting a functional multiplayer and the ability to actually change ammo types without losing the ability to use your mouse wheel and pointer, and having menus designed for something other than a gamepad "more demanding"

And many people where probably bought it o play co-op and multiplayer only to be royally screwed out of it.

Bingo.

If one considers the ability not to have to stop to change weapon as "more demanding" then that's just more fuel on the fire that FPS on consoles are for noobs. :)

Its just a massive lemon tbh. I can deal with a game being released with bugs and even to an extent being a bit rubbish but its the fact that they have intentionally lied about what we were getting, purely to secure sales that does my head in.

Even now Helios is still posting touched up images and links to "bought" review sites whilst he knows fine well that the independent sites and indeed trusted people on here who have played it are slating it.

Its simply not on.

I purchased ARMA 1 on the day of release and couldnt play it for 6 weeks, the game would crash on intro everytime, after 2 patches 6 weeks later the game would load but was useless/unplayable, I further 6 weeks and 4 patches later I finally got my first go on the game I was so angry with bohemia.
I again bought ARMA2 on the day of release thinking nah they wont do that again, and they didnt I could load the game I could play the game, but oh my god what a load of pap, the FPS where slow on my I7 and GTX295, the controls where clunky, and gameplay was horrible, the graphics where poor the story line was poorly put together and other than that this all made the online experience terrible in return, again ARMA 2.....another game sat on my shelf I shouldnt have wasted time or money on and pirated it.

Dont get me wrong I havent played OF2 yet, but come-on it cant be any worse!! Infact I'm pritty confident from what I've read and seen it will be a cracking game SP wise and quite fun MP wise, and lets not forget it'll be patched shortly and all you 32 player fanboys will no doubt comming running back. As for cancelling pre-orders the SP alone will be worth £17 you will have paid more for worse, idiots!

I'd have to disagree there. The SP can easily be completed in about 6-7 hours, not exactly worth £17. At present the multiplayer is a complete joke and completely useless.

So then let's cut the crap lol....... I just want to know what the graphics are like?

I currently play arma2 maxxed out settings and its silky smooth never ever had a problem with it even at release.

Taking into account the above would I like flashpoint or would it seem like a lesser product to arma2?

waffle

Firstly, 32 player fans returning, lets hope so cause if the sales don't warrant the support they will drop it faster than a bag of cold sick, secondly saying the SP is worth it alone and calling people who cancelled pre orders idiots isn't on, think of something you don't like ? Now pay £17 for it, would you ? no ? Idiot!!

If it was marketed as a SP game then fair enough we wouldn't have a gripe. But it wasn't.

and lets not forget it'll be patched shortly

Thirdly don't hold your breath on the old patch there fella, Helios promised a GRID patch on the 12th Jan 09, of which we are still waiting. cold bag of sick me thinks.

Do you only like a game if the gfx are good?

Why not watch a film lol.

Actually yes I do only like games if the graphics are good. This is 2009 now I think pc games graphics should be good on the latest games the hardwares certainly there waiting to be used.

I don't think personally that new games should be released with out of date graphics.

Last game I bought was crysis then arma2 and they were great imo...

A below average SP, with menus designed for game pads, unable to change weapons on the move, the loss of the mouse cursor and mouse wheel when changing ammo, dumb AI, a squad that goes ramboing off on respawn, and 5 hours of game play?

Yep definitely worth 17 quid that. Idiot.

Arma 2 is much prettier. This is what you can realistically expect to see while playing OFP: DR...

That's with everything set to max, 8xAA 8xAF. BF2 looks nicer imo!
