I hope this is the right place for this. Ok currently i'm using a P4 so need a good upgrade.. I want the new build to be future proof and that can be updated easily. Will need a new monitor since i'm using an old crt.

Will use pc mostly for:

Gaming
Media converting
Programming
Internet browsing
Watching movies
Word processing etc

Parts Not Required:

Keyboard
Mouse
Speakers
Floppy Disc Drive

My friend told me that using an AMD might be cheaper, so chose an AMD gamer build and customised the parts this is what i came up with these but want your opinion on their compatibility and if they're good enough?

Anything missing? For monitor I haven't decided yet, probably will buy directly from my country. This build comes to £772 shipping included and I dont want to get much higher than that.

Also why can't you chose a different motherboard in the AMD build and will i be needing a cpu cooler or it has 1 already?

Thanks

i already have win xp and will use that for now, if u chose your pc from pc configurator and customise parts it will be shipped already built right?

also what tft model/width you think will provide best picture with this graphics card??
and is the case im gonna buy good? would everything fit easily?

What size screen are you look at ?

because a 4890 will be better for a 24" but if your not going as high as a 24" then get the 4870.

i've never owned an amd cpu but i would presume the retail box cpu chip would come with a cooler like intel does. and secondly the chip is AM3 socket and the cpu cooler you've chosen is not, would it not need to be a AM3 socket cooler?!

You could get this, twice the space for just a little more which in my opinion could be worth it in the long run:

Could someone confirm that Amd cpu retail has a cooler please?

Anyone knows whats the best screen price/quality in 20"-22" range?

I made some changes so it gets a bit cheaper, are these components compatible and is this build good for crossfire should i go for it later on?

hmm so u can choose different parts and tell OCuk to build it for you?? Last build has a very good price.. is there something missing?

I'm already asking that.. :p
I'm still not sure about the motherboard and if there's something missing apart from OS, monitor, keyboard, mouse.

As for your 1st question you have to phone and tell OCuk your specs and you will get it prebuilt.

yea just tell them what specs you want and there build it :)

im not sure on the mobo how much are you looking to spend on the motherboard ?

These two here look good :)
Asus M4A79XTD Evo
Gigabyte GA-MA790XT-UD4P

or you could spend a bit more and get
Asus M4A79T Deluxe
Gigabyte GA-MA790FXT-UD5P

thanks ;), the Asus M4A79XTD Evo looks good for the price.

Do you know if the Amd processor comes with a stock cooler? and do i need something more (fans etc..) or thats all?

Would all fit in the Coolmaster case cause the Antec becomes too expensive with shipping :(
Thanks

yes , my 955 processor came with a stock cooler and if your not plaining on overclocking then just use the stock cooler.

yea get the coolmaster case as its cheaper,

One 120mm front fan(optional),
One 120mm rear fan

you might want to get 120mm fan for the front of the case as an extra :) maybe something like this
Xilence XPF120R
Akasa AK-191
