Sub and amp wiring help! (long noob post)

No reason why that wont work but it sounds like a proper bodge (and looks it from the picture)

For a start, the fuse should be under the bonnet at the battery end, not in the boot. Secondly, you really should keep the colour coding accurate so you know which wires are where.

Rip out what you've got, spend 30 quid on a decent wiring kit and do the it properly and tidily - will pay dividends in the long run

There is a fuse under the bonnet, and a second on in the boot and i know what cables are what easily enough but yes it a bodge, as i bought the car of an idiot apparently...
The cable that runs from the battery as the live i think is the same type of cable that is used for the ground, shown in the sub woofer connections

So i should be able to amp up all the speakers and run the sub and it wont kill my battery (when i get a new one that is)?

Yeh it'll be fine - if you find your headlights start dimming to the beat of your phat tunes, get a capacitor

He's got a single live feed with a fuse under the bonnet and one in the boot - odd but it wont do any harm

Thyats why I am trying to ascertain what the total current draw of the whole lot is. 8 gauge is good for 100 amps, but not over 12 feet.

Whats the total of the two amps fuse ratings?

4 gauge is recommended for distances over 12 feet and over 100wRMS

The seperate amp has 2 20amp(?) fuses and the sub has a sibgle green fuse so i'm guessing its a 30amp but i haven't looked.

It's all wired up after giving me a headache getting all the terminals sorted. The sub amp, remote and ground all run the corresponding terminals on the seperate amp.

Now i'm not sure if the rca's are right? I got one going into the side of the sub on the low input and the other end going into the sub rca on the headunit which is right but the sub seems very quiet still comared to the speakers. I remember with my previous headunit i was able to get the sub so much louder, i'm guessing i need to fiddle with the custom eq? And the other rca's go from the back of the headunit to the amp but i'm not sure if they need to go in a certain way as i have just stuck them in randomly until i got sound from both sides (although i cant seem to get sound from the right tweeter so i'm guessing the wiring is off somewhere. And i haven't amped up the rears yet).

Personally, I would rip it all out and try again lol.

Nosing through your photos, I noticed some 4 gauge running alongside the thinner stuff, is this what you have still in place now?

Send me some better quality photos and I can tell you exactly what to do

Baw, i really can't be arsed to rip it all, weather has been making it a pain in the rear to try and sort it out as it is, with the rain and the fact i have no shelter to do it in. Rip the seats out and carpets up would be a nightmare.

I'll get photos of the wires and how its set up at the moment taken soon but probably wont be till monday as i'm away this weekend so i'll have to bring this thread to page one when i get back :(:)

If you are ever in Wales, I could take a look and give advice, but if you want to take it somewhere close, Sextons is probably a good bet.
