If you mean install it to the Hard drive then yes, but it's not recommended since it actually increases the load times, but in all honesty it should be fine anyway, since there will always be atleast 1 other person in your game that will have it installed aswell, which means everyone will have to wait for him.
 
Just got deja vu then tried for the vidmaster achievement on lost platoon on heroic took 2 hours, Died on 1 million 168k points set 4 round 2 (1 away from round 3 :o), I got 6 deaths 550k points (I killed most the wraiths with laser :p), the rest of my team got 31,28 and 12 deaths :( so close to finishing it as well. http://www.bungie.net/stats/odstg.aspx?gameid=46618436&player=The Buff Man

The reason it wasn't recommended for Halo 3 to be installed to the hard drive was because it loaded from both the disc and the hard drive cache at the same time to speed up load times, but if you install the game to hard drive it will be loading from the hard drive twice so the loading times actually increase. There was nothing Bungie could do about it since the feature was implemented after Halo 3 shipped.

I've no clue whether this effects ODST or not, I would lean towards a yes though because it is built on the same engine as Halo 3.

It also says optimised for hard drive on the back of the Halo 3 case too, but it was recommended not to install it to hard drive for the above reasons.

Gah! No bloody wonder Halo 3 runs like a dog on mine as I have it on the hard drive!

I would have got it the other week, but because of lag we got kicked on Set 4 round 2. I was the only one suffering from the bad lag because they were all American and I still came second place with the least deaths aswell. Most of those were because of the catch skull too since by the time I saw the grunts throwing animation on my screen I had already been stuck on the hosts Xbox so there was no way I could avoid it really.

I just want 3 other people who will not run out and die all the time and who won't leave half way through even though you make it perfectly clear that it will take 2 hours atleast. Also they need to know what weapons to use against certain enemies, I've seen people shooting brutes with pistols (when the tilt skull is on) and they are complaining that it takes forever to kill.

I then try to explain that the pistol is meant for head shots on unarmored targets and all I get is a load of abuse because they are MLG and would PWN me one on one :rolleyes: Also another favourite of mine is when you are trying to kill a hunter with stickies and some moron runs in rambo style with a hammer trying to beat it down and they end up being killed by your grenade :D Then of course it is all my fault because he failed to pay attention to the other 2 stickies that I had already thrown :p

My new favorite is when some moron runs in Rambo style on brute chieftains in legendary mode and shouts "3 times I hit him 3 times with the hammaar and I died!! WTF!"
