***Official Halo:ODST Thread***

Normal was hard enough with 4 rambos :D

heroic is a ***** with 4 others let alone legendary, we stick to normal on most and try and get lots of kills with the hammer when they drop from the ships you can get 5k+ with some of them with one strike :D

Hi,

I weren't really a big fan of the game Halo 3 but my mate said ODST is pretty good and the reviews of the game it is getting is good!
But will I like the game if I didnt really like Halo 3 that much?

Thanks

Finally managed to complete it last night on solo mode...have to say i wasnt really that impressed with it...the start was a bit meh but near the end of the game i started to actually kind of enjoy it somewhat. One thing that put me off was the stupidly long loading times...some people said that NFS shift was bad for it but honestly this game was just as bad.

Anyhow are there any more achievements for the co-op campaign...if so then i guess ill have to find a few partners and hit the co-op...probably do it on legendary i suppose for laughs...if not then i wont bother and just trade the game in for something else.

If anyone wants to give me a hand with a co-op campaign then add me...i wont be around till late fri nite, probably after 10pm...but if anyone fancies it then give me a shout.

Did you install the game? I never really noticed any particularly long loading times, and once a level was up there were none.

No i didnt...just loaded the game from the disc...the longest level for me loading up was the one after the Hive i think...took nearly 3 misn or something as i was watching the clock tick away whilest waiting for it...was beginning to think that the game had crashed.

Perhaps it took time because my game saves are all on my memory card...

My loading times have been quite quick.

The reason it wasn't recommended for Halo 3 to be installed to the hard drive was because it loaded from both the disc and the hard drive cache at the same time to speed up load times, but if you install the game to hard drive it will be loading from the hard drive twice so the loading times actually increase. There was nothing Bungie could do about it since the feature was implemented after Halo 3 shipped.

I've no clue whether this effects ODST or not, I would lean towards a yes though because it is built on the same engine as Halo 3.

It says on the box "Tuned for Install" or something to that effect. Kind of a subtle hint to say "Install this game other wise be prepared for long load times"

It also says optimised for hard drive on the back of the Halo 3 case too, but it was recommended not to install it to hard drive for the above reasons.

ODST definitely benefits from being installed to the HDD - it makes quite a difference to the loading times.
