that gorgeous bentley

I assume you feel the same way about movie and music stars who also get obscene amounts of money?

actors, i dont feel quite the same. they have a very different skill set, they are obviously talented etc. the same applies to some music stars, but not all of them.

but footballers, i just dont "get it". i know this will sound old-man-ish but look at the example it sets to younger/more impressionable people

i think ive seen signs for alderley edge, but cant remember going there. knutsford had a few nice cars dotted around. as for congleton, all i remmeber about that place was really fun roads

Yea knutsfords nice, mainly Astons and Bentleys round that area, slightly dissapointing thing about Alderley is its only one road through, the best of the cars have been locked up for the season now, in the summer you get the odd F50 and Veyron dotted around. Most of the roads going into and out of congleton are fun, clearly the one upto buxton is great via the bosley crossroads but in summer this is a great route:

Yes - I don't think that (for example) Cameron Diaz deserved TEN MILLION DOLLARS for doing about 3 days work doing voices for Shrek 2, but she got it.

Yet some researchers working 70 hour weeks trying to find a cure for cancer will earn £23,000 per year if they are lucky. Doesn't stack up, but then again we live in an age where music/sport/film stars are role models for 95% of the population are are rewarded because of this.

I disagree, actors can easily 'fake it' - there are plenty (especially female) who just get paid stupid money because they look good, their talent is questionable.

Footballers at the top level HAVE to be talented. Heck, I play against people from the seventh tier of English football and they make the average Joe look like a mug.

Anyway, not top take this off topic, Ireland's taste in cars is utterly terrible - his girlfriend's must be similar other wise she would ask for a more 'stock' example.

Edit - I agree that actors, musicians, footballers earn far too much money.

GF said she used to see a veyron going the other way past gadbrook park on her way to work everyday. shes from kingsmead... lots of tasty saxos round there yknow.

ive had a play around that area as well, i think via mow cop too, if its the right area

yeah, id like to see that BENTley thrashed across the cat and fiddle tbh

I wouldnt be bothered if he kept popping up with a cure for cancer or something but no, his job involves kicking a ball around, shouting, for the entertainment of people sat on a sofa drinking Stella on the 'FULL SKY PACKAGE INNIT'

Oh well.

Not every football fan is like that, and Stephen Ireland is a supremely talented footballer (I don't know him in person but I doubt we'd be friends). It's not his fault that the football industry is outrageously inflated, he's just a good footballer getting paid by a billionaire, hardly his fault.

I don't know any football fans like that to be honest. I'd also defend the amount of money he gets paid. Success in football brings in big money and if he's helping to do that then I'm all for him/other footballers getting paid a lot.

He's still got no taste what so ever when it comes to cars though. I was also hoping it had been written off.

You make it sound like an easy job. He's clearly worked hard to get where he his, he has a skill and gets paid the market rate.

As for your football fan stereotype, not entirely convinced that is accurate.

My friend's son has a professional contract with Chelsea, and I can tell you that lad has worked harder in the last 5 years of his life than pretty much anyone I know has in their entire life. He's now living with a family in Cobham near the academy, away from his own family and concentrating 24/7 on his one goal. I guarantee you he has worked 100 times harder than you ever have in your life, and yet he still might not 'make it'.

I swear most people here think football involves rolling up on a Saturday in a nice car and kicking a ball around for 90 minutes.

You could say the same about a lot of jobs. Computing was a hobby of mine that I happened to be good at - now it's my job. I certainly didn't and don't work as hard as a footballer does though and I get paid less. However I will still be working at 50, nearly 20 years after most footballers useful career life is over.

Cruising for hotties in your VW estate? :D ;)

I would like to introduce you to this new concept, its called parking the car up and walking into a bar with your mates, I know its a hard concept but not everything in life involves a drive through McDonalds.

Cruising around looking for girls is something 18 yearolds in Corsas and Saxos do, sitting in a posh bar is what grownups do ;)

It's still a very tough job, obviously not worthy of the ridiculous wages, but the shape that the players have to be in is unbelievable. Some players run 13/14K in a 90 minute match, imagine running that far in 90 minutes, most of it being stopping and starting at a very high tempo, all whilst trying to play the highest standard of football on the globe. It's not that easy.

Neither is flying a Boeing 747-400 through a storm, or performing a triple heart bypass.
