Any good RTS games you can recommend?

I finished the great game that is Bioshock last night 3am and don't want to jump into another FPS just now. So, I thought I'd go back to a RTS game for a bit. Last one I got into was Battle for Middle Earth 2 and it was awesome. Anything that is roughly the same graphically and of light complexity out there?

Company of heroes is incredibly beautiful and a great RTS, things like tanks blowing holes in buildings and then men inside shooting out the hole are very nice touches. (ww2)

Supreme commander forged alliance, is great for truly ridiculous scale battles. (futuristic)

These are pretty much the best rts's out atm, CoH for small scale tactical warfare, supcom for massive strategic battles.

£14 for Company of Heroes on Steam. I'm holding you responsible Tefal if it sucks :D Bought and downloading now.

Empire Total War is £15 at the moment on Steam, I think. I really like it, and the last few patches (1.4 + 1.5) have really improved it in my opinion.

I do prefer games where you have to resource gather, build, improve and upgrade base, then attack.

Then you want supreme commander forged alliance (the expansion makes the game so much better)

81x81 km maps (6500+ square kilometres), with ****ing huge armies, navies and air forces.

Eats Multi core cpus for breakfast though

The SupCom Forged Alliance expansion is great, especially the SP campaign, mainly because you get the big units right from the start and each mission builds up nicely, with **** loads of units attacking you from all corners.

My only gripe is that it's very short ... I hope they make SupCom 2 like Forged Alliance, and not make you do tedious, small scale missions up till the end.

Also beware that although you can have rediculously huge battles, you also need a highly clocked quad-core in order to get a playable game (GPU isn't as important, but I'd say a 8800GT at least). The single player campaign isn't too much of a hog, because many aspects of it are scripted, but playing skirmish games with many CPU controlled players can reduce your game speed to a crawl.

Yeah I reckon SupCom FA is a truely great game. Had a lot of good co-op games with mates. After playing on such huge maps it's hard to go back to games like CoH (which is still a very good game)

I also like Medieval 2 and it's expansion pack. It's quite satisfying repelling a seige with only a few spearmen units and a few peasents (and cannon towers) :D

Bought it of my mate (well, one of those internet mates you've never met) just now for £2. For that price it hardly matters if the game last me an hour :D

There's a fix for that, restores the game speed to a much nipper level, it is however quite tricky to do.

Basically it relies on a using a large number of strategic nuclear weapons to "reduce" the number of CPU players :D
