To cut a long story short, i was in Germany and flying to Slovkia with the legends that are ‘Ryanair’ this was part of a mini Euro trip. Being in Dusseldorf it appeared that there was two airports and being away from the web i called Ryanair and asked for advise on which airport, i was clearly told to go to the ‘main airport’ and i was correct in thinking it was the international airport.

OK speeding things up... i was sent to the wrong airport and it was miles away from the one i needed to be at, i purchased another flight and few to my destination.
I wrote to ryanair and included my costs i was claiming for (£200) they wrote back with a genric email and said ‘sorry we can’t help you with a refund’ i tried my insureance and they knocked me back too.

Anything i can do? I know i perhaps could have done more, but some gumbo at Ryanair directed me to the wrong airport at the end of the day

Doubt you'll really have a leg to stand on here. As a point of reference though, if theres more than one airport in a city then you can rest assured that ryanair will fly to the smallest one furthest from the city itself. They pay less fees this way hence the often cheap tickes.

Did your ticket not state which airport you were flying from?

TBH I dont think you can blame the airport or staff if you didn't have the details to hand, as I take it you booked the tickets before leaving home.

Best of luck anyway.

Do you have any evidence to prove that Ryanair told you to go to the other airport? Don't really think you can do much since its technically your word against theirs that they told you the wrong information.

The airport code should have been on the tickets, even if it's just a printed receipt.

my ticket just said Düsseldorf, and i understand i should have done more, but my issue is i called them and have proof on my mobile phone, to be directed to the wrong airport by some muppet. Granted i should have checked before hand, but i was unaware there were two airports and you would hope that when you call an airliner they can give you the correct airport info

In tens upon tens of flights, I've ALWAYS had an airport code on something. If this is a RyanAir boo-boo I'm disappointed in them.

on my airport printout it just said DUS. on the website it gives more details of where the airport is and with that info i could have worked out that it was not the main airport, but not having that i spent money on a international phone call direct to ryanair, where i would hope to gain the correct info

So what airport did you go to? And what was the correct one? I'm confused.

DUS is the main airport. Ryanair fly to NRN. If your ticket says DUS then it's wrong and you have a leg to stand on.

well i will look through my pint outs, but i recall it not giving me enough info to work out which airport it was, that's why i called them!

RyanAir did get done for being silly with destinations. E.g. (made up) saying your destination is London, when it's closer to Birmingham than London.

Good luck trying to get money out of an airline, one popular holiday company owe me £175 for the extra leg room seats I paid for and never received. They ignored my letters and only bothered to reply once I'd taken it through ABTA and even then they offered me a cheque for £10  Still waiting to hear back and this happened in early July.

yeah i guess after googling i'm stuffed too, oh well will write my follow up letter out of principle and see what's what

i like the way at ryanair you can only complain via letter or fax yet they just email you back and at the bottom of the email say 'we regret we cannot be contacted via email'
