let's jump from n side to ati

Still using an 8800GT in my workstation and it still does the job - infact I'm often suprised how well it does do at 2048x aslong as I don't hit the VRAM too much.

I am starting to think that nvidia are well out of line and need a change of top management and corporate culture. they seem to be in the process of squandering one of their most valuable assets - their good name with the consumer. that is a very bad thing. I would now think twice about getting an nvidia card because i no longer trust them vis a vis the mobile chip scandal and the current behavior in games which stinks of trying to deceive the public.

when you say making gamers experience worse on non-nvidia hardware I assume you are referring ot the whole batman AA issue? the thing is for the past few weeks there has been a lot of discussion about this, and i am yet to see anything concrete that says 100% nvidia influenced the game developer to 'effectively' sabotage ati cards when used to run the game.
Right now imo it is all just rumours and accusations. If they did do such a thing that must breach anti-competitive rules and we will surely be discussign that court case in the future but right now there are zero legal proceedings and it is just a rumour. (one that would surely involve eidos/rocksteady) now that would be weird.

Do nvidia suffer from all of the inevitable failings of a company left to dominate too much? sure they do, look at ms/intel who just totally dominate their respective fields, its always the way. I am just saying that looking at there recent history I dont feel (as a gamer) passionately upset with them as seems to be so common today.

I think it must just depend on the personal experience of the user, e.g if I was one of the ppl who bought an nvidia card to use for physx I would probably have a very very serious issue with nvidia, but I didnt os I have no problem with nvid

Not everyone has to wait until wrong is done to themselves for them to take a stand.

Bought an n card two weeks ago (gtx 260), the black screen problem is widely reported by users. My card has this error too, and it is not been sovled since I'd updated card BIOS and the new 191 driver. There is no way to refund it.
another reason, nivda faces a big time problem to carrying out new direct 11 cards.

Our drivers have no problem, theirs have all the problem.
GTS250 is faster than 5870.
They do not have DirectX11, DirectX11 is an illusion.

Why even pick a side. I go with whichever offers me the best performance to price. Was a Nvidia fan for a long time, but they have gone down a lot recently.

Edit: lol at the above

Because of nvidia actions and i don't like bullies and that what nvidia has become i am just waiting for them to get a bloody nose.
Why the hell would i support a company that acts like that, there are so many things they done over the last few years that make me cringe it isn't funny.
If people keep buying their products they will never change and i do miss the old nvidia of the tnt and gf1/2/3 days where it was the hardware not pr that made them great.

rant over

make a stand? imo the only clear time in recent history where nvidia fooked up badly is by dis-allowing use of their cards for physx in ati ati config, or let me clarify, by failing to inform users that this was the case BEFORE they actually bought the cards for this purpose. ppl also have to exercise some forethought when buying, i mean what kind of unholy machine would have both an ati and nvidia card inside? lol, that is asking for trouble.

so i really see nothing worthwhile to make a stand against, all i am seeing recently is gross exaggeration of nvidia actions or just plain rumours and accusations with zero evidence behind them.

I just go with the best bang for the buck, I've owned loads of ATI and Nvidia cards.

But given Nvidia's recent rants it just makes their marketing guys look stupid and that reflects badly on the company, the Batman AA thing also leaves a bad taste in my mouth.

Nvidia's recent actions mean for me that going forward I will still buy Nvidia if they card is clearly the best bang for the buck in my price range but if it's even remotely close I'll go with ATI.

You have a right to your opinion in that regard.

To me Nvidia have only given me free features that never existed before i even brought the card and ive never had any problems, only thing i noticed latly is my 8800 gts 512 is hotter than i ever though it was mainly because i never cheacked the heat, and my case is an Antec 900 so if u have a high end card u need a decent case. I think a lot of people are unhappy with nvidia because they are big and have a lot of weight and like to use it like a lorry getting in your way on a motorway, maybe its wrong or write but u cant stop the lorry so u have to live with it, and all u can do is complain.

I'm jumping to the N side after being mostly on ATI. No particular reasonn, ATI served me well but I see Nvidia being beaten up a bit and I love siding with the victim. Can't help it.
To the OP, I know in your head your last sentence makes sense, but in reality it makes zero sense. Try rephrasing or summarise (in English) what you meant to convey.

Why on earth would you do that? You have no ties to one company, it aint part of your family. It's a bleeding graphics card:rolleyes:

You are going to go with a worse card, just becase Nvidia has taken a beaten.....jesus christ i thought this place could not become any more odd:o:o

Well that is the thing really isn't it.
There are people who only care about themselves, me me me as long as I'm alright Jack do what you like to others & then there's people who care about others besides themselves.

It makes no difference to me in which side is doing it i will be against it regardless.
The same goes for 2 faced butt-kissing backstabber's.

opinion is one thing, but proof of something is another. Unless something can be backed up with concrete evidence, then surely it is 100% rumour?

we can agree on this?
Yes!
But what i see as concrete evidence & what you see as concrete evidence are clearly not the same.

Both have driver problems, so theres no point jumping, as once you get a problem with the others drivers, then thats it for you, you're buggered, be no one else to jump to, so you will have to get rid of your PC as you can't use it anymore, as you won't be able to without gfx.

with the exception of the mentioned physx/ati issue, please give me an example of nvidia bad practice that warrants what i can only describe as hate, that is proven to be true.
I think it is likely that our definition of evidence to be same/similiar.

I am not saying nvidia are some kind of holier than thou company, but for example from bad to worse how would you rate nvidia alongside intel/microsoft
