currently running an 8800gt, more than fast enough. I'm tempted to go for a 5850 if they drop below £100.

Please remember that any mention of competitors, hinting at competitors or offering to provide details of competitors will result in an account suspension. The full rules can be found under the 'Terms and Rules' link in the bottom right corner of your screen. Just don't mention competitors in any way, shape or form and you'll be OK.
when you say making gamers experience worse on non-nvidia hardware I assume you are referring ot the whole batman AA issue? the thing is for the past few weeks there has been a lot of discussion about this, and i am yet to see anything concrete that says 100% nvidia influenced the game developer to 'effectively' sabotage ati cards when used to run the game.
Right now imo it is all just rumours and accusations. If they did do such a thing that must breach anti-competitive rules and we will surely be discussign that court case in the future but right now there are zero legal proceedings and it is just a rumour. (one that would surely involve eidos/rocksteady) now that would be weird.
Do nvidia suffer from all of the inevitable failings of a company left to dominate too much? sure they do, look at ms/intel who just totally dominate their respective fields, its always the way. I am just saying that looking at there recent history I dont feel (as a gamer) passionately upset with them as seems to be so common today.
I think it must just depend on the personal experience of the user, e.g if I was one of the ppl who bought an nvidia card to use for physx I would probably have a very very serious issue with nvidia, but I didnt os I have no problem with nvid
Bought an n card two weeks ago (gtx 260), the black screen problem is widely reported by users. My card has this error too, and it is not been sovled since I'd updated card BIOS and the new 191 driver. There is no way to refund it.
another reason, nivda faces a big time problem to carrying out new direct 11 cards.
Our drivers have no problem, theirs have all the problem.
GTS250 is faster than 5870.
They do not have DirectX11, DirectX11 is an illusion.
Why even pick a side. I go with whichever offers me the best performance to price. Was a Nvidia fan for a long time, but they have gone down a lot recently.
Edit: lol at the above
Not everyone has to wait until wrong is done to themselves for them to take a stand.
make a stand? imo the only clear time in recent history where nvidia fooked up badly is by dis-allowing use of their cards for physx in ati ati config, or let me clarify, by failing to inform users that this was the case BEFORE they actually bought the cards for this purpose. ppl also have to exercise some forethought when buying, i mean what kind of unholy machine would have both an ati and nvidia card inside? lol, that is asking for trouble.
so i really see nothing worthwhile to make a stand against, all i am seeing recently is gross exaggeration of nvidia actions or just plain rumours and accusations with zero evidence behind them.
I'm jumping to the N side after being mostly on ATI. No particular reasonn, ATI served me well but I see Nvidia being beaten up a bit and I love siding with the victim. Can't help it.
To the OP, I know in your head your last sentence makes sense, but in reality it makes zero sense. Try rephrasing or summarise (in English) what you meant to convey.
To me Nvidia have only given me free features that never existed before i even brought the card and ive never had any problems, only thing i noticed latly is my 8800 gts 512 is hotter than i ever though it was mainly because i never cheacked the heat, and my case is an Antec 900 so if u have a high end card u need a decent case. I think a lot of people are unhappy with nvidia because they are big and have a lot of weight and like to use it like a lorry getting in your way on a motorway, maybe its wrong or write but u cant stop the lorry so u have to live with it, and all u can do is complain.
You have a right to your opinion in that regard.
Yes!opinion is one thing, but proof of something is another. Unless something can be backed up with concrete evidence, then surely it is 100% rumour?
we can agree on this?
But what i see as concrete evidence & what you see as concrete evidence are clearly not the same.
