Hey looks good, theres not to many corners you can cut without effecting performance really, if its mainly gaming you could drop the cpu back to an i5 750, depends if your graphics work/programming would be hampered by the loss of hyper threading or not?
Could save £15 and just get the LE mobo, if it still has the required functions for your build?
The RAM you could save £7 on by getting the cas9 stuff, wouldnt overly effect performance but its not saving you much either
Do you need business edition of win? and do you need to get vista? could you not pre-order win7hp saving £50 and just use the RC for 3 weeks?
PSU theres alternatives I could suggest but theyre not going to actually save you anything, bequiet straightpower for example, £1 cheaper 50W more slightly better quality but not modular
I dont have any experience of that case, but have used the 335 and found it to be reasonably good for budget case, however it is out of stock atm

I had thought about dropping the cpu to an i5 - an i7 would certainly be nice to have, but in single / dual thread situations (where i'm guessing most normal applications will be running) the difference isn't that large?

I went for the business win7 due to the xp emulation - a bit of insurance as i won't have an xp install to fall back on if I find an application that doesn't work with win7.
I don't need vista though, so thats £50 saved right there :)

Still indecisive about the case. I have a Lian-Li PC-0700 that i paid about £60 for a few years back, but I'm not sure on the cooling for the new hardware. I'm looking for a mini tower big enough for a decent size graphics card, some degree of cable management, good airflow, and nothing flashy (no side windows or glowing elements ;)).

I'm not very knowledgeable with regards to power supplies, but will this come with all the cabled required to power the 2 case fans and 1 additonal fan im planning on? Also, I need to put an old 3.5'' floppy drive in, do i need any other cabling?

Moreover, is that a 'good' ps? Is it a well regarded brand? Is 600w enough to add a couple extra hd's or bigger graphics card in the future?
I'm looking for reliability and quiet operation :)

That PSU wil be fine. I'm going for the 700W version in my i5 build. I know of the 700W version (not sure about the 600W) that the 8-pin CPU cable is a tad short and will only just or won't reach around/over a large graphics card to the adapter on the motherboard if your case has the PSU at the bottom.

Get a case with the PSU at the top and you'll be fine. That, or get an extender cable. Something you may want to do anyway as it will allow you to run the CPU power cable around the back of the mobo and hide it away. If your case allows.

Case fans are powered by their own cables off of little pin adapters on the motherboard, not directly from the PSU. So no worries there.

On the RAM: Those RipJaws are great, when they're functioning as they should. They do seem to have a relatively high failure rate, or can't be OCed to the advertised speeds. The Geils have much more headroom for OCing, and also don't have heatsinks, allowing more room for a CPU cooler.

If you have a spare HDD knocking around, keep XP on that for any older apps. There's no point buying Vista now - none at all. Pre-order 7 and save yourself the £50.
