Antec 1200 v Corsair Obsidian 800D

I had decided on buying the Antec 1200 for my new build, but then got thinking about the Corsair Obsidian 800D.

How do they compare?

My wife prefers the looks of the Corsair, but I am thinking more about room and airflow.

New rig will be:

i7 920
Corsair H50
Gigabyte UD5
6gb 1600mhz Corsair ram
128gb SSD
Samsung F3 1tb HDD
Asus Xonar
Tagan 900w PSU

you said you are thinking about room and airflow? Believe me you want the Corsair. I am now seriously considering buying that case at the end of this year to replace my 1200 cos it has all the room in the world

I think it's a bit much to spend on a case, but other than that the Corsair is definitely the better choice.

For room I'd say the Corsair wins on that. It's huge!

But I think the Antec might have better airflow, due to the intakes at the front. I do prefer the looks of the corsair case though, so it's up to you. Not sure I could really justify an extra £100 on the case, but then I also think the Antec's airflow is overkill, and the Corsair's would be sufficient. I dunno.

Definetly the Corsair, looks so much more classy and has loads of room, airflow pretty good once you sort it out.

Does the Corsair come with all the fans, or are they extra?
If I need to get extra fans for it, then which ones?

I'm not that bothered about the price, as whichever case I finally decide on will be to last a good few years.

I'd decided on the Antec, then the wife made me rethink :eek:

Comes with 3x140mm fans, although you'll probably have to change the bottom intake fan for something stronger. Also has space for a further 4x120mm fans (3 in the roof, 1 on the drive bay).

3 140m Case Fans are Silent around 800 to 1000 Rpm Comes with it
Incase Temp are Great.

if u want upto 3fans ontop u need to buy them
a nice triple rad be nice also

I love my Antec 1200, comes with 6 fans and keeps my temps very low.

Probably wouldn't be far stretched to say that volume of Corsair is double that of Antec.

Also some Lian Lis should have high WAF...

Was going to get some other things insted but my dad despret in need of a new case so ill give him my antec 900 modded

Btw, go for the corsair, its a brilliant looking case, cable management with ease and buy a few more fans thats all then your off to go

I think I've had my mind changed and will go for the Corsair.

What extra fans should I go for? I'll be using the H50. Should I also go for a fan for the ram?

Nah you wont need a fan for the ram.

When you install the H50 just make sure you have it blowing inside your case. Apparently it makes a big difference to the overall airflow in that case.

Also get a decent fan for the bottom intake, and get one to exhaust out the top.

I'll let someone else recommend which fans to actually get.
