Annoying injuries

Had four (very expensive - private) white fillings done, replacing amalgams and have toothache in two of them on the same side. It is only painful if I eat or drink. So it's quite annoying. Debating going to the dentist, but convinced he'll charge me again for something.

I've got the same problem at the moment. I changed dentist in July and he put a filling in a tooth that wasn't in a bad state or causing problems, in fact he only did it because I said I'd rather get it done early. I had a nerve randomly die in April (my old dentist could only guess it was some trauma) and I didn't want to go through that pain again.

The tooth has been horribly sensitive since the filling went in and I have to take painkillers with most meals/cold drinks. I've been back a couple of times but I keep getting told to give it time and the only solution would be to re-do the filling :(. I just put up with the pain now because I can't really afford to pay for another filling and with a 50% complication rate across 4 dentists, I'm not sure I trust any of them!

My annoying injury happened about 25 years ago. A jar of coffee fell off the shelf, I flashed a hand out to catch it and the jar broke against the shelf. I only got a small, deep cut on the side of my finger, but ever since if I catch that finger the wrong way I get a really intense stab of pain. Over the years it's been a pain in the backside.

Well, actually it's been a pain in the finger, but you know what I mean. I've wondered if there's a tiny splinter of glass still in there, but lack the courage to investigate. :->

PS On the dental theme, I think the horrible truth is that those kind of discomforts are fairly commonplace. They usually settle down over time, but a tooth I had reconstructed after a granary bread incident several years ago (titanium post, white filling, big bill!) still misbehaves regularly. There's no alternative to ripping it all out and starting again, and that's about as attractive a proposition as taking a scalpel to my finger. Besides, there'd be no guarantee the new work would be any better.

My little toe, second from right on my right foot, is broken. I have an awkward limp at the moment, as nothing can be felt until I put a modicum of weight on that foot, then it begins to hurt like hell. Walking while trying to keep my weight primarily on my left foot is making me look like a spag.

I've done that twice, once on the little toe and once on the toe next to it. I didn't realise how much I used my toes when walking until the first broken toe. The second time, I heard the bone crack. That wasn't nice. My little toe still aches sometimes.

Shin splints are more annoying, I think. If you walk, it hurts. Quite a lot. So you hobble around like you're a hundred years old and don't have any knees.

Knees are my most annoying injury. I did mine in by kneeling far too much on hard surfaces over the years. I fell down stairs a couple of times, because a knee would give way under the strain and pain, and on one memorable occasion had to drag myself into a side room at work because I couldn't stand up. Thankfully, I got the right diagnosis from a doctor and they've mostly recovered in the last couple of years.

It isn't an injury, but I have almost constant pain in my left [EDIT: oops, right, not left. Don't ask me for directions to anywhere :) ] testicle. Sometimes it's bad enough to force me to stop what I'm doing and deal with the pain. That's rather annoying, but it has had the benefit of making me more tolerant of pain. Every cloud and all that.

:p
My forearm bone still being half broken and making an obvioius dent out of my skin is definatelly the most annoying! sorry no pics of that though.

I'm recovering from a broken arm (multiple fracture of radial head) but luckily there was no displacement so it was a cuff and collar job.

Fireskull: That must have been a pretty bad break (the femur pic). Is that a rod going all the way down the bone?

I'm guessing by your sig that it was a motorbike accident :(

every now and then when I need the loo, I get terrible stabbing pains in my sides, latest one was in my right, not sure if it's always the right as it happenes once or twice a year, so not often enough to cause real concern, but nothing I can do while i'ts happening can help, just have to ride it out and it lasts for about a minute or so.
As I say, it doesn't happen frequently enough to cause major concern

Yep was motorbike accident!
Here was the initial break, the rod runs whole length of the femur and a pin at the hip and above the knee.

today I have found that I can't grip properly with my left hand, otherwise I get sharp pains along the ring finger bone in my palm :/

Cartilages in my wrist are screwed after having my wrist bend too far backwards after saving shot in football.

When I move my wrist it sounds like someones neck is breaking.

I've been to a physio and still no luck.

Oh yea, it's been like it for like 6 months now.

I play guitar too :(

Well I foolishly had temporary amalgams replaced with white fillings. They didn't need doing, and I can't help but feel I've messed up my teeth now.

I simply can't afford (can't justify) replacent fillings. I'm just avoiding biting on it and drinking cool liquids :(. If you're right and he agrees it needs replacing I'm going to kick off.
