Operation Flashpoint: Dragon Rising

Thanks for the game gents but noon tomorrow is a no go as the mrs will kill me. Tend to play a few evenings a week so I'm sure I'll catch you for a longer game another night.

Also...if it helps anyone else out I had connection problems (never had issues with other games). Ended up switching to a wired connection (as oppose to wireless) and also set up port forwarding (which is something I never got around to doing before). One or both of these seemed to do the trick.

Yeah my mate had the same problem but fixed it with the above.....in fact he didnt do the port forwarding just by passed the router.

yay, finally, i can get on with the campaign, got past the stupid sodding village defence crap, once i realised there was a supply box right by the position with a scoped gun in it was a doddle :p

wow, can't beleive how easy the airfield mission (4?) was in comparison to the previous one, aced it on the 3rd go XD

Seems to be pretty short. I'm on mission 9 out of 11 after 5 hours of gameplay on experienced(with lots of dying in between). I'm guessing they pinned the longevity of the game on hardcore. The side missions/pre order missions arent really worth noting, they last about 2 minutes each. No form of a vegas terrorist hunt equivalent or just eliminating enemies at a stronghold like GRAW 2 and of course with no mission editor for the consoles, you can't make these yourself.

Granted coop is a lot of fun, but pretty disappointed with the lack of content here.

Well I am utterly stumped by mission 2, I've destroyed the sunburn missile, now my 4 man team is being slaughtered by a gunship whilst being attacked from all sides and still we have to destroy an unknown number of SAM sites each of which is heavily defended by troops. On top of this apparently we have to do this in around 5 minutes before a load of our own helicopters get shot down. On the bright side we've got 1 single artillery barrage to call in - wow, thanks guys.

I can't remember ever experiencing such difficulty and frustration with a tactical fps.

ew.... :o

lol you can join my club.

I restarted it in the end, not sure if its helped me, im now check pointed just after sabre three get owned (can you keep them alive?) with two helicopters flying overhead and sometimes raping my whole team.

you don't have to destroy any SAM sites, just the radar further up hill, take out 2 or so fire teams while avoiding the choppers (easy once you get to the tree line), kill the defenders at the radar and blow it sky high.

if you guys are on 360 fancy some coop?

I've got this game for PC finally and the first thing I realised is it's actually far better using a 360 pad for this. I plugged one in and it also supports the 360 headset :) May as well be playing it on a 360 tbh but I can totally max out the visuals on my rig and I can play with the editor. It's the best of both worlds lol.

Am liking the game so far. It is getting slammed in the PC section but I'm an Arma2 player and can see where CM were coming from when they made this. It's more accessible than Arma2 but still manages to be open ended. I'm looking forward to properly getting into this in co-op soon.

Ah right I tried running to that but got mowed down.

Yea sure, when you thinking? Campaign coop?

One of the main reasons for that is this.

And no dedicated servers. It really does feel like they made it for the 360 then ported it over without taking the different control method into account at all.

Really am starting to hate this now. Still can not defend the beach head. There are no APC's left so cant get in one of those. The building on the corner is intact and the ammo crates are there, which you think would be good. Tried putting a man on the fixed gun but he is pretty ineffective and gets taken out quickly. Tried staying in the house and picking them off from there but there is to many of them. Also tried having my team defend the area around the house and me basing myself in the woods picking off the enemy coming from the SE. I easily keep them at bay but my men are easily overrun.

Awful

enjoying this so far but im a bit stuck on the beachead mission (3rd mission)

trying to defend the village is very hard , they attack from all directions , 2 of my squad got blown to bits by some cannon fire , very intense stuff.

im playing on hardcore , which i think is the best setting for relism

you just have to keep plugging at it, it took me so many attempts it's untrue but eventually i made it, i set the RoE to fire at will, stuck a guy on the turret, grabbed the scoped rifle from the ammo create and went from there
