Have MB Gigabyte EX58-UD5, CPU - Core i7 920 D0, Patriot Viper 1600 mhz 3x2 gb and 2x GPU Gigabyte GTX260 216p. CPU cooling - Thermalright Ultra 120 extreme.
Is it worth to overclock cpu ? It's gaming pc, and only for games. Will overclocking increase FPS in games ? Help, cause i can't find any information ...
Monitor - 32" Full HD (1920x1080) TV. gaming only using this resolution !
P.s Sorry for my bad english . It's not my native language .. ;)

Overclocking an i7-920 is a tricky process to get it 100% perfect. Each chip is different, so while taking someone else's profile can help, it's not the best solution. You need to tweak and tweak.

The fact you quote a UD5 with Turbo Boost Technology suggests that these are built for overclocking. Why choose such an enthusiasts motherboard otherwise.

It would be a crime not to...

Agreed.

And agreed again here. Since you bought a UD5, I'm guessing you planned to overclock it. Also, as you bought a Thermalright 120 Extreme cooler.

Go overclock it. There is plenty advice.

My profile is on the these boards mate just search...voltage wise my chip is not great but my cooling is :D off the top of my head look at davyboy & bulldogs threads think we have the same setups give or take :D

It'd be a crime not to - I'm @ 4.5ghz with the same board and cpu under watercooling.

It would be illegal not too! Maybe just a mild overclock though, to 3.2/3.6 maybe... Then you can have safe voltages without it kicking out too much heat.
